How Apple wants to remake the classroom

Ya wanna improve education???

Small (walk-there-from-home) classrooms.
No ‘wired’ ANYTHING.
Teachers get rid of ANY student for misbehavior (as in GONE)!

Computers may not belong in the classroom - but lecturers don’t, either.
Lectures belong online, to be heard at home, at leisure. That is where computerized education makes sense!!

From what I read about Los Angeles schools is that Apple bribed those in charge to get ipads into the classrooms. Same for other areas of the country.

There were no bribes, not even in Los Angeles. iPads have always been the best and have the most and best apps for education. The issue was that some people want to have other choices for tablets or laptops, claiming they could get less expensive tablets, ignoring that cost is less important than functionality, availability of education apps, and the fact that the TEXTBOOKS were already published in iBooks format and had been already in use at other schools. . . while the administrator had actually done his homework. The text books were NOT available in any format that Android could access nor were they available in the Windows formats.

He however had not done the political groundwork in the district to prepare for such a massive infusion of technology. iPads have been extremely successful in many educational environments when done properly. iPads are still being selected as the device of choice for schools.

There is absolutely NO evidence of bribery involved. . . or of kickbacks. Discounts to the district, yes, but those are normal.

Someonen has hinted that bribery was involved. . . so the FBI has seized evidence looking for something. . . but that does not mean there is anything to be found. The questions involved seem to revolve around a third party value added vendor called Pearson who was to handle training and software. . . NOT Apple. . . who from emails to district officials made comments that in one light can be interpreted to show they were expecting to be working together after the support contracts were opened. Here are some of the "suspicious" emails that raised red flags for the school board:

"Looking forward to further work together for our youth in Los Angeles!" Deasy wrote to Marjorie Scardino, then Pearson's CEO, on May 22, 2012, after hearing an initial pitch over lunch.
"Dear John, It's I who should thank you," Scardino replied. "I really can't wait to work with you."

WOW! Those are really suspicious emails. . . NOT!

As a erstwhile CEO, I have often seen such phrases used in correspondence prior to closing deals. . . it is called assumptive pitching. Saying "I am looking forward to working with you" is NOT a smoking gun, as they are interpreting it to be.

To claim that Apple needs to sell the best selling, most popular, highest rated tablet in the country by bribery is just sheer FUD, minnesota_bound. There is no evidence for it anywhere.
