Most women, including my wife, think that beauty contests are demeaning to women. If so, then why do so many women participate in them and watch them on TV?

As a general rule, men don't watch beauty pageants (it's considered to be rather "gay" among men to do so).

Mostly women watch the beauty pageants and make snarky/catty remarks about the "outfits". So there is obviously a built-in female audience for the very beauty pageants that they claim are demeaning to them.

I think there was a "Male Universe" pageant at one time or another but it bombed in the ratings.

Men do like beautiful women.

Women like them because every woman dreams they could be that beautiful.

Both sexes like women. What’s not to love?
