BILL BELICHICK BRILLIANTLY SCHOOLS THE NFL, AND THE LEAGUE HAS NO ANSWER

In the year of Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy, they've somehow managed to trump serious cases of domestic abuse by blowing a silly, inane, moronic controversy over the inflation of game balls into a national story that gets more sublime and ridiculous by the day.

The league didn't take their time and do due diligence on what really mattered in the Ray Rice case, and delivered a hasty judgment that Commissioner Roger Goodell admitted was ill-conceived.

Now, they're taking their sweet time to decide who may have taken too much air out of the balls, a violation that is punishable by a minimum $25,000 fine. This is no more serious than hockey players playing with an illegal stick or, as we saw in 1983 with George Brett, hitting with a doctored, pine-tarred bat.

Talk about having your priorities all screwed up.

all this is theater to distract from the real issue...

the fix was in for the dallas/detroit game, the refs made damn sure that detroit was not going to win that game, and they got caught....

smoke and mirrors to distract from who really runs the nfl..

organized crime

You mean besides the fact that at halftime the Pats balls were found to be under inflated and the Colts balls were within regulation. You mean no hard evidence like that?

No. I mean evidence of exactly WHO did WHAT. Not just speculation.

Who inflated the balls? What was the temperature of the room where they were inflated? Who had access to the balls before the game started?

There are many possibilities. Few facts. Many accusations based on air.

And as a Bills fan, I hate the Patriots and Dolphins.

No deflation occurred. Just heat transfer. —

Well, now the truth comes out. Global Warming!

On a more serious note, the hot air and time could be ‘gamed’ to produce the desired final (lower) pressure.

Nascar owners employ engineering and machining specialists, and line backers for their different skills.

These NFL guys could get an engineer to perfect this Global Warming effect for them.

The under inflated balls are evidence of wrongdoing in and of themselves. Where there is smoke there is fire, or should we just ignore rules and evidence because you don’t like hearing about it? The NFL is investigating to answer the questions you asked. Or should the balls just be ignored and the incident not investigated. According to you, that is what should happen, me, the Pats have a history and I am not so quick to just take their word of “honor”.

I noted ZERO hesitance when it came to the under inflated ball. You may wanna watch again and remove the homer glasses.

You are so wrong. Look at the video at post #50. Temperature and water on the ball can account for the pressure difference. Those are FACTS, which you deny. You sound like a man-made global warming believer, wanting an outcome regardless of the science or facts. You have NO EVIDENCE of cheating, but want to believe.

And for the record, I hate the patriots

Your argument would bear more weight if any of the Colts’ footballs were found to be underinflated.

A rule is a rule. Conservatives believe in playing by the rules. And I’m not a Patriots fan either.

In fact, it’s to the point where I’m ready to be done with the NFL. From crappy officiating to buddy-buddy relationships between certain owners and the league’s big cheese to this ... if I want to watch something rigged, I’ll watch the NBA.

This is exactly my point. How were the colt balls inflated? Were they inflated on the field, in the cold?

You don't know, do you? But you want to believe what you want to believe, regardless of the facts.

The fact is that one team played legally and the other didn’t. That’s the only fact that really matters.

You have officials who are supposed to catch this stuff. They didn’t. But then, they don’t really know what pass interference or a legal catch is in this league so I guess we shouldn’t expect something quantifiable to be handled correctly either.

True that.

While I don’t think it’s a life and death issue, Brady enrolled himself in a unsavory club:

Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Mark McGuire
Sammy Sosa
Lance Armstrong
Jose Canseco
etc.

Despite his best efforts on Saturday, Belichick the physics teacher left some unanswered questions. The top among them is if the atmosphere affected the footballs the Patriots used in the AFC Championship Game, why didn’t it affect the Colts’ footballs?

Belichick’s scientific credentials took a hit Sunday when Bill Nye the Science Guy, known for his TV appearances, weighed in.

“What he said didn’t make any sense,” Nye said on “Good Morning America.” “Rubbing the football? I don’t think you can change the pressure.”

This isn’t the first time Nye has proven himself incompetent in the behavior of gases and climate.

...and this one isn’t even close.

While it isn’t Belichick’s responsibility to explain the Colts...the most obvious explanation has been repeated: the Colt balls didn’t start at the same temperature. the other is, we have no idea yet whether they were checked at halftime. If the Colts balls were at room temperature when submitted, by halftime, assuming no Colts funny business, they would have had to have lost over a pound of pressure just from temperature changes, with more from being wet. If not, they defied the laws of physics known for over 300 years (1702).

They may have or could have worked it out via testing based upon a simple suggestion. Brilliant. Everyone screaming cheater is a fool and doesn’t understand how to read the rule and allow for alternate ways of thinking.

You better believe the footballs and all equipment, including helmets, will be checked from now on out and there better not be any funny business . Even a hint of more New England cheating and they will have to deal with the other 31 teams, and it won't be fun.

I’m only wrong to someone who pretends to hate the Pats. I think you are saying that to try to lend yourself some credibility. No one else who I know has seen that video and doubted it conclusions. I know I won’t open your mind as it seems to be seeing things through Pats colored glasses. We will see how this all shakes out. According to you, there is no advantage to under-inflated balls, even though Brady himself says that is how HE prefers them. Why? if there is no advantage?

The balls are my evidence! 11 of 12 under inflated! You just want to trust your team, no matter what you try to make me believe. We will see how it shakes out. If they are found guilty, they need the football version of the death penalty.

I bet you tailgate folks in the left lane (or right for that matter) if they aren't speeding and flash your lights, hit your horn, and toss the finger because when you break the law and do dangerous things it's because you're you and that makes it all OK.

Now that we got the personal insults out of the way, how in the hell does your comment equate to anything that makes sense - you appear to be proving my point that Patriot fans are like Dems when it comes to being OK with their chosen ones doing wrong.
