Yup. Anything by Michael Mann, I like.

I saw that word “tentpole” used as an adjective a week or so ago. What does that mean?

A “tentpole” movie is one that is expected to make lots of money for a studio, and thus, support the other poorly performing lame-a$$ movies in the arena at the same time.

It means something entirely different in the boudoir.

Yipes. 12% at RottenTomatoes? That's gonna leave a mark.

I like Depp - he's a gifted and idiosyncratic actor, but it turns out that there aren't all that many good idiosyncratic parts. I've often wondered how he'd do as Inspector Clouseau, and apparently this one is a step in that direction. Next time, bring some screenwriters.

I knew Mortdecai was a disaster ...

...when the preview reminded me of a Pink Panther movie.

Sellars, he's not.

IMO Depp has serious talent.

He needs higher quality projects and advice from people smarter than himself. A better agent might be the ticket out of the mess he is in.

And dear God! No more pirate movies!!

Johnny Depp has more money than he’ll ever be able to spend and he likes to play dress-up. He’s a good actor, but he chooses roles that will be fun for him, rather than movies that might actually, you know, be good.

News of Depp’s failure brightens my day.

Ditto, that's my feeling. He's having fun at the studios expense. That's not his fault.

"the other poorly performing lame-a$$ movies"

These poorly performing lame-a$$ movies are "Art" created by "artists". These visual expressions of the true depths of human emotion are what Liberals do.

If you are confused, look for a low angle of some guy's crotch, or Tarantino and his foot fetish. Then you will know that that you are watching several million dollars being pissed away to demonstrate creative freedom.

Ever notice that Hollywood has yet to have a production where everyone get's paid the same, in true egalitarian fashion, even for bragging rights?

Even better, this bomb co-started kommie Gwyneth Paltrow as well.

I like Dark Shadows- it’s a fun film. The preview of Mortdecai I saw had everybody in the theater going, what is that.

This article is mistaken about “Finding Neverland.” There is no such thing as a “hit ultimately.” Either it makes money during its initial box office release or it goes into the loss column forever.

And no, “most movies” don’t “eventually earn a profit on DVD or cable.” That’s producer spin. The vast majority of movies lose money.

Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.

OT: I always thought he looked like Glenda Jackson when he played Willy Wonka. It was frightening.

True. And of course he likes to work with Tim Burton, which means he’s in some odd roles. I thought Marvel might get him to play Dr. Strange, but they went with someone else.
