Is the Left slowly killing off McDonald’s?

Dan Thompson is on his way out the door as CEO of fast food giant McDonald’s. This is not terribly surprising, since the Golden Arches have turned in some poor numbers compared to their competitors for a while now. There are a few reasons for this, some of which came as a surprise to me, as outlined by my friend Stephen Green (a.k.a. Vodkapundit). One big factor which doesn’t seem to make a lot of news is that the primary component of burgers is beef, and the cost has been on the rise.

The headline is wrong. It should be: “Why is McDonalds committing suicide?”

Their egg McMuffin, coffee and hotcakes are pretty good. Their hamburgers sucketh and the Big Mac is awful. Their prices are not so cheap anymore. The local McD’s nearby is an all Mexican staff. I’m the dang minority walking in there-— and not very often either these days.

I had my first McDonald’s burger back around 1960. It was 15 cents which was cheap even back then.

The one thing which did surprise me is they were good. So were the fries.

I had my last one around 5 years ago. The price wasn’t bad as 99 cents was probably comparable to the 60s price. The problem was that it tasted bad, really bad.

The left wants to kill everything. What remains after their insane agenda, I do not know.

it’s going to take a reimagining of the company — or a return to serving its core customers, and serving up a super-size middle finger to the Left.

They need to g ơback to serving the demographic that made them an American icon in the first place. That demo is still there.

The Burger King where I live makes an excellent burger.

The original fries were the best ever.

The present day fries are DREADFUL.

I haven’t eaten them in years.

I avoid businesses which ignore me and advertise to 12% of the population. No wonder MCD is doing crappy.

No, that describes how we figured out instant coffee and Budweiser suck and started drinking other stuff.

The more they go vegan and get paranoid about being ‘green,’ the more they’re going tick people off. Too many customers make stupid diet specific demands out of what is essentially a burger joint.

Their food sucks and it’s no longer cheap. You don’t need to be Warren Buffett to figure this out.

Before I hike, I like to stop and get a breakfast sandwich for breakfast. One time I tried Starbucks and got an egg sandwich, coffee and OJ for about 9 and change. The same thing at McDonald's was about 7 and change.....and the two were light years apart.

I went to the grocery store today and saw MCD coffee on the shelf (10 K cups for 7.50). Starbucks is only about a buck more!

Cannot believe they (MCD) remain in business with those prices.

I used to eat there annually. I liked the old Egg McMuffin. But when I got one last month, it wasn’t anything like I remembered. The old ones were fried in butter and the ham was real. The new one is way different. Tasted bland.

Agree. Throw in more competition. Some regional chains went national[5 guys, Chic Fil A, Raising Cains]. Quality of service has been a deciding factor in my dining experience, McD’s is only for the occasional coffee as a last resort.
