Then came across this;
In other words hypocritical like progressives are"
Ok, I give up.
+1
(does +2 work?)
“I dont know about you but when I see an Apple user I think computer illiteracy and the foolish to buy a deliberately overpriced product made by a company that takes special pleasure in gouging & entrapping its victims... sorry customers.”
I see that some others here have pretty well addressed your viewpoint, however there are a couple other things to say.
On the mobile device front, the premium devices from Samsung and others are within a small percentage of the cost of comparable Apple devices. Clearly, a ton of folks feel that there’s an advantage in buying Apple. There’s absolutely a case to be made for that.
On the Mac front, it’s pretty much the same thing. If you look for comparable hardware, Apple is very cost-competitive. Plus, you have the many advantages of MacOS X over the competition. In particular, Apple laptops are regarded as as some of the finest available options.
So, what would you recommend for a 5K display solution running a Unixlike operating system at this point...aside from a 5K iMac?
A crash manifests as a spontaneous restart, but perhaps you don’t realize that. The thing gets the updates as soon as they come out.
In fact, I took it to the “Genius Bar” when it was a month or so old. They were able to tell exactly how many times it crashed, so I guess it logs the unexpected restart when it starts back up. They reimaged it, but it crashed again that evening,
Crashes have gotten steadily less since then, so I suppose it is just OS bugs that Apple hasnbeen slowly fixing.
Thanks for the advice, The iPad got reimaged at the “Genius Bar” when it was about a month old. The crashes have been reducing in frequency with each iOS patch, last one was about a week ago. My main complaint now is the slow safari. Didn’t have that issue before the iOS upgrade.
LMFAO. Wow.
Frankly I think you are:
a) Lying
b) Ignorant on how to use these devices
c) Ignorant of any facts about AAPL’s business model and financial/operational metrics
But you are very consistent with the anti-Apple myrmidons on FR.
I've only been in the computer support business for over 35 years. . . and you think you have to tell me that? I repeat: my iPad has never crashed. Shall I say it again? None of the Three iPads I have owned have ever crashed. I do not know what is wrong with your particular iPad, but my girlfriend has an iPad 2, and her iPad has never crashed either.
Since you have had repeated problems since a month after you got it, take it back and complain. You should have it well documented. Ask for a new one. They might accommodate you.
Well, I was all set to take it back in to the Genius bar, but then I decided to do search for “ipad air crash”.

It seems the crashes do happen, and it is not just me.
Scutter, You’ve taken it back once. . . perhaps more times with the same issue. Go ahead and take it back and report that it is STILL doing the same thing. Tell them it is NOT acceptable. You’ve been patient but enough is enough. Be patient but firm. See what happens. Can’t hurt. You might get connected with the Fairy God Mother department instead of the Department of Dirty Tricks. . . and walk out with a new iPad. I’ve seen it happen.
Back up your iPad before you go.
Ok, you’ve convinced me. I am going to hook it up to iTunes (have to install that first) and grab the crash logs before I take it in.
BTW - do you experience the Safari slow down that I mentioned? I posted a video of it to FaceBook when a couple of my apple fan-boy friends expressed skepticism. Their response was “wow”. Not sure if i can share the FB video, but might see if I can post it to YouTube.
Thanks for the advice, btw.
Video (opens in a new window).
No, I don’t. Although where I am today, the Internet itself is slow and leggy as all get out on all devices in the area. I brought my iPad and my MacBook Air. I finally gave up and hooked the MacBook Air to my iPhone hotspot to get some reasonable speed. The iPad is still on my friend’s WIFI and things are leggy as hell. . . but so is his Windows laptop. He says it gets that way when the neighborhood kids get home from school.
Good luck, Scutter.
That’s a RAM problem. Quit your other apps, all of them, and then go to the Settings app and then to Safari and clear the history and cookies. Then, if you have an app that clears the RAM, run that (I have that app).
Quit Safari and then restart it.
What happens is that your RAM is being squeezed, so you clear it all out and then you should be okay. Apple has doubled the RAM in the new iPads, so I doubt they have the problem. The RAM was increased from 1 GB to 2 GB.
As I get to using the iPad and I forget that I have a bunch of apps still active (in the background) it takes up more and more RAM, so that it causes some trouble like this. I just quickly quit all the apps, clear the cache and clear the RAM and I’m good again ... :-) ...
or you could double-click the button and just swish them off the side of the screen one by one... or am I thinking of something else?
There were four things here ... one of which you’re talking about ... which is quitting the other apps.
The other three items are clearing the cookies and history; running an app to clear the RAM; and then quitting Safari itself
This is not a slow internet issue. The page is already fully loaded - I waited for that to finish before I took the video.
It’s a RAM issue ...
Maybe that is why Apple makes a 40% profit margin practically unheard of in any other part of the computer industry.
I honestly don’t know what your talking about every-time I compare hardware and software capabilities Your paying way more for the Apple for what you get.
Premium Samsung and LG options typically have far superior hardware and options.
In truth thou I cant stand Apple’s business practices which are monopolistic and highly anti-competitive.
