Oh, not so fast. Some “cryptoBSologist” just snookered Les Stroud into hanging out in the East Texas Panola County “Yeller Dog” Sabine River bottom videoing for a week.

The Mothman Prophecy. Look up the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant, WV.
Incident happened ca. 1967 I believe.
Maybe avoid old and structurally deficient bridges for a while.

I live near Lake Arkabutla. By and large, it’s a lousy place to fish, so I don’t even bother. However, I duck hunt only a few miles from the lake and the hunting has been great the past few years. If I see a Swift Peter near the duck blind, he’s mine.

One night, a few of us from OM had a “hold my beer and watch this” moment. We jumped off the Hwy 51 bridge into the Hickahala creek. Deep enough, but the mud flats were at least 100 miles wide, perhaps someone will find my shoes sometime in the far future.

That’s great stuff.
About a year ago I saw a black congregation having a baptismal service in Hickahala Creek near dusk. They wore white gowns. It looked like a scene from the 1930’s.

John Keel, author of The Mothman Prophesies and the man who introduced people to the Men In Black phenomenon, thought Mothman was a harbinger of doom, perhaps the embodiment of a locality's collective fear or dread.
It's been over 35 years since I read the book but I came away thinking it was a one-time-only thing and not a cryptid by any means. That silly statue they erected in Point Pleasant, W.V. is an abomination.
Keel himself stated he was not a UFO-logist or a cryptologist but a demonologist!
On the other hand, it could've been a large specimen of a known species of owl.

Yes, but, also from an old Broomhilda comic. We use to have a copy of it under the glass on the check out desk.
I think Mother Goose and Grimm have also used it.

Big Foot hustlers for sure!
Hell, I spent nearbout 50 years in and out of that Sabine bottom and this was first I ever heard of any Big Foot. Hope Wes Stroud enjoyed the million Water Meskins and spent lots of money locally.
