I recently tried to pawn some guns for my mother, who is 72 and was need of some quick cash. An old friend is the manager of a pawn shop and ran my name though the data base to see if I could get the guns back if pawned, because I had a prior conviction of class d felony due to DWI's, and didn't want me to lose the guns. I was denied..... I received a call from the ATF, saying I wasn't in trouble but they needed me to sign some papers. I'm freaked out, I have changed my life completely from the past. Does anyone know what consequences await me?

I'm be slightly surprised if the ATF makes phone calls and harasses people. But maybe they do.

If you are not supposed to have a gun, don’t have a gun. Can’t help you with that...
But you should not be in trouble for GOING TO THE STORE TO ASK A *THEORETICAL* QUESTION WITHOUT HAVING A GUN IN YOUR POSSESSION, that’s what happened- right?

Verify that it is indeed the ATF calling you, and contact a lawyer. Beyond that, there isn’t really any advice anyone can give you over the internet.
If you are a troll (as many suscpect), kindly PIZZ OFF.
If you are not, seek legal counsel ASAP. When dancing with the feds, you do NOT rely on advice from a website, even Free Republic! Once you are on their radar, you need a professional on your side. And you need to pony up the cash necessary to have them do their job!!!
1. Your story sounds bogus. Lemme guess, you actually own the guns, but they’re in your moms name because you’re not allowed to own guns.
2. With no court order or proceedings, there is nothing you *have* to sign from any law enforcement agency.
Did you have the guns with you when you went to the pawn shop?
If you’re a minority, Muslim, Communist, a liberal, etc...no need to worry. You are free to wander onto any military base, school, movie theater, etc and discharge your weapon but you are required to shoot someone then later claim you are patriotic, a veteran, or a Tea Party to further the gun control agenda. If you really are one if the above they will probably declare you mentally incompetent to handle a weapon and will come to confiscate your guns that you no longer own, had stolen, or lost in an unfortunate boating accident.

I don’t know why running your name through a database would prompt a call from the ATF. Besides, I think the ATF would knock on your door, not make a courtesy call. You’re not under arrest, so there’s nothing to sign. Get them to contact your lawyer or meet you at his/her office. My guess is you’ll never hear from them again. **GET A LAWYER** Don’t take advice on a website, even though we are generally above average in intelligence.
Somebody will contact you about the beeber, later.
