Many years ago, my aunt was working in the State department when a letter was received from a European who was planning a trip to the USA. She was seeking guidance and wanted to know it it would be better to see the Grand Canyon in the morning and the Smithsonian in the afternoon or the other way around. She clearly indicated that she meant on the same day.

Okay, had to check Wiki, but there is still a London Bridge, and there has been one since the middle ages. The modern London Bridge spans the River Thames, as does the current Tower Bridge, just at separate locations.

The current iteration of the London Bridge was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The new bridge replaced the structure that was built in the early 1800s, and torn down in the 1960s. The 19th-Century bridge was purchased by an American, Robert P. McCulloch, and most of the structure was moved and rebuilt in Lake Havasu City, AZ. This 19th-Century bridge actually replaced a medieval bridge that was more than 600 years old.

...he has launched a one-man campaign to correct tourists from around the world.

I once considered launching a one-man campaign to correct everyone who misused loose/lose. Then I realized it's just easier to change the dictionary.
