If you care at all about the players on the Jackie Robinson West Little League team, dont call them champions.
They arent. Wednesdays announcement by Little League International that the team has been stripped of its U.S. title and all its wins from the 2014 Little League World Series tournament is all the proof you need.
These are not champions. To say otherwise is a disservice to these kids, and theyve already been handed a disservice big enough to last a lifetime.
So dont say, Its OK, kids, youre still champions in our eyes. Dont say, We dont care, you guys still won it all.
Tell them the truth, and dont sugarcoat a bit of it.
Tell them theyre not champions because, according to a lengthy Little League International investigation, the adults that the young players trusted to lead them to a title knowingly violated Little League International rules and regulations by placing players on their team who did not qualify to play because they lived outside the teams boundaries.

Apparently, talented students from across Taiwan were sent to the same schools and those elite schools provided the teams that played in the Little League World Series, so that some local teams were essentially national all stars.
When the rules requiring teams to be formed based on where players lived, rather than where they went to school, were tightened or enforced, Taiwanese teams didn't do as well.
Not saying that makes what Jackie Robinson West did right or justified, but there is a long history of stuff like this going on in Little League.

speak for yourself....I have taught my child a set of values that ensure that she knows who her Creator is and what her life’s purpose is.
I’ll put on my Klan hood and make this comment:
How many of these black kids even know who their father is?
How many of them live in one place for 6 months at a time?
How can the organization even determine if they are within the actual or spirit of the rules?
The kids were just as big a cheaters as the adults. They knew they were recruiting ringers outside Chicago. They knew they were outsiders but played along. They want a free ride so they can grow up to be cheaters like the adults.
Surely they have to put their addresses on the membership forms when they join the league?
I would think in a big city like Chicago, that a kid showing up at the wrong tryout might be fairly common. I would further think that they need medical releases and such, and can’t play before they turn them in and only then would they be assigned to a team.
Say it ain’t so, Joe
We live across the river from Omaha in Iowa. My son played for Little League for 10 years. When he got to the age where they play in the Little League world series, we applied for an exemption and was denied as we lived outside the boundaries.
We appealed to the fact that he had played there for years and was denied. They said if he wanted to play in LL, we would have to drive 50 miles to an Iowa town to play. It was insane, but we chose not to game the system. At the time he had an uncle who lived in the Omaha LL boundaries, but we didn’t feel it was right to do it.

The adults knew; the kids were probably oblivious
And so did I and my son is now teaching his daughter the same values and fear of the Lord. BUT we are in a dwindling minority in Amerika.
He started when he was 2?
In most (all?) cases, were the kids on their neighborhood team and only afterwards reassigned to Jackie Robinson?
I don’t know how much contact you have with kids of that age but the vast majority are pretty oblivious to moves like this. The same kids, if they did understand what was going on, would have blabbed long ago.. Just my opinion.
I’ll admit, not much with little league.
I got on the little league site and didn’t see anything...but from limited experience with school/church leagues, they want medical forms turned in with the correct address.
Am I right to think that the players are not assigned to a team until the forms are turned in?
Also if I were an adult inclined to cheat, I’d want to scout the neighboring leagues somewhat before I redrew the lines.
Am I further right to conclude that Jackie Robinson West (or any entrant) is an all-star team from that league, rather than a team that’s been together since the beginning of the season?
I think not. I believe that there is occurring a slow rising of those whom the Lord has called. I know it seems like this isn’t true because of the msm and the noise from the left but I see a rising of those who are sick of all the nonsense and are standing tall
so sad
