The school lunches that shame America: photos reveal just how meager US students' meals [truncated]
UK Daily Mail ^ | February 18, 2015 | Staff

Mouthwatering photos of school lunches served around the world reveal even children in Ukraine, Estonia and Greece are treated to delectable meals each day. School children in America, meanwhile, aren't nearly so lucky. Whereas a kid in France might be treated to a juicy steak and a hunk of brie, the richest country in the world's youths are more likely to receive unidentified meat served alongside little more than a starch like white pasta, fries or a roll. The contrasts between America's school meals and those in far less fortunate economies are stark and suggest Michelle Obama's push for more healthful lunches nationwide may not be enough.

Well, if you saw the picture of an actual NYC public school lunch that I posted, maybe you’d know why he was hungry. Doesn’t that nuked portion-control stuff look positively yummy? How about the banana about to go bad because it’s turning black?

I’d believe that picture from Cuba more than I would believe anything coming from the BO regime.

Again — it’s real hard for me to get worked up about this. Pack a lunch or quit complaining. And the grousing about Sidwell Friends’ lunch offerings is on par with the left demanding the Bush twins be sent to the front lines.

--thanks--I stand somewhat corrected-

-my experience in small Wisconsin schools was with the expansion after WW 2 , which ended up putting surplus food out even to one-room schools--

-( I still will not eat bread pudding as a result of this)

Would the school lunches pre-Obama have compared well against foreign lunches?

Not the pre-usurper lunches but back in my day they would. It did no good to teach us right before lunch because the smell of fresh homemade yeast rolls and big homemade peanut butter cookies would waft down the hallways. Our public school lunch ladies used very little prepackaged stuff and our meat was real meat like real fried chicken with real bones and skin.

Considering what Sidwell Friends charges for tuition I would hope some of that money made it to the cafeteria.

Wanna bet we taxpayers are somehow paying for their tuition?

It ain’t Obama’s fault America’s school lunches suck. They’ve been terrible for a long long time. We accepted bad food as part of our lives sometime in the 50s or 60s. In the early 90s a culinary revolution started here, and it’s slowly winding its way through all our food. It’s finally gotten to fast food in the last few years. It’ll hit cafeteria food soon (well “soon”, maybe another decade).

Solution: Have a letter drafted by a Doctor prescribing a custom lunch to be made by the parents. Have your lawyer send the letter stating that this is a “prescription”, citing HIPPA regs on non-disclosure of what/why is in the “bag”.

I listened to a radio program awhile back that discussed lunches that French kids ate. The participants said the French think their children deserve good food in a pleasant environment and enough time to eat it.

What a moron. I wonder what her grades were in school. Turns out Nixon was 3rd in his class at (Harvard, Yale not sure) and Opuke and Joe Bite me were at the bottom of their classes.

Nobody is surprised.
