Also notice all the awards given to folks whose pictures made no money.

Hollywood's major studios can stay in business making movies that make no money because they have 100 years of back product (85 years of talking, alone) that they can sell on DVD, show on pay-tv (cable), license to broadcast tv, license for advertising, etc. BILLIONS of dollars every year from works that should have lapsed into the public domain decades ago.

Any upstart studio that hopes to enter the market does not have this luxury and must be more responsive to the ticket buying public, boycotts, etc. And that is IF you can even secure distribution to the theater chains for your truly independent film.

It's called a monopoly and it used to be prohibited but Big Media pwns the Democrat party and lobbies the GOP as well.

Joan rivers wasn’t involved in movies per say, she was a TV comedian.

NAZI propagandist Leni Riefenstahl was honored and Joan Rivers was stiffed. Very telling of Hollyweird's politics. Same as when they sat on their hands as Elia Kazan was honored.

The live audience is probably mostly homos.

Gay for pay. There is still a casting couch in Hollyweird and it goes AC/DC.

The funniest moment was when he stated “there are more black men incarcerated today than suffered under slavery”

Too bad Richard Pryor wasn't still alive to fill him in.

Warning: Language

Without prison sentences, what would rappers do to show they have ‘street cred’?

What year did NAZI propagandist Leni Riefenstahl join the Academy?

http://articles.latimes.com/2004/mar/08/entertainment/et-counterpunch8
Shaking his head over Oscar nod to Nazi auteur
March 08, 2004|Doug McIntyre

“She [Riefenstahl] was there because she was an artist and she’s gone. She had a greatness to her and she had amazing longevity.” So said producer Sid Ganis, a vice president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in the New York Daily News. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer was more specific: “She was a genius, and her movies were innovative and still copied today.... When I was making commercials years ago, I remember one where the director stole directly from ‘Triumph of the Will.’ “ And Sir Elton John said it for the ages: “Yes, Hitler was evil [but] ... she was a great filmmaker, and as an artist myself, I think she deserved to be there.”

...The academy can’t acknowledge everyone who dies in a given year. The names of more than 400 notables, I’m told, were submitted to the academy for inclusion in the “In Memoriam” tribute. Ganis’ comment to the New York Daily News is telling: “There was no special debate whatsoever in the decision to include her on the list.”

The Hollywood Reds sat on their hand as Elia Kazan got his award. And it is called HCUAA, not HUAC. Homofacists' UnAmerican Activities Continue. Have you looked at corporate 'murica lately???

If you don't tow the party line, you are out of work.

There are probably more Americans with DWI charges on their records now than under Prohibition as well.

Not all comparisons can be made strictly on numbers but it sounds good as a tweet or bumpersticker.

She ‘directed’ one movie (and one tv episode) after she became famous during the Clinton error.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0142231/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_1

Her name had become buzzworthy.

She certainly wasn’t KNOWN as a director.

And she was in Roots (a tv-play)
Poetic Justice
How To Make An American Quilt
Madea’s Family Reunion

HARDLY a notable acting career worthy of recognition.

My voting rights are compromised every time a Democrat stuffs a ballot box with fraudulent votes. Dead voters, more people registered in a district than even live there, absentee voters who weren’t the ones who filled out the card...

Mandela told South Africans to get an ID, get registered, and go vote.

Nothing racist about providing proof of identity for each ballot cast.

Have you seen the Grammys’ spoken word category? Conservatives need not apply.

There IS a blacklist in Hollywood. It isn’t discussed in academia or the media.

She wrote a screenplay for Georgia, and directed something called Down in the Delta. In both instances it was supposed to be some “first” for a black woman whose first name starts with “M” or something like that.

Joan Rivers acted in a couple dozen films. Some were ‘silly’, but not all.

Congratulations for your non-achievement award. We know you're not the first scientist who colonized Mars, but you did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, right?....Didn't you?

You're in good company. That global warming blowhard, alBore, got an Oscar for his lying, falsified documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, since proven to be a big hoax. Apparently one doesn't have to do anything to get these awards except to be on the left side of the political fence.
