At that time, I suspect there were many people who would have disagreed with you............

All of the explorations of the past were considered suicidal and history is rife with such heroes who never returned. Many of whom never made it into your history book.

Apollo 11 in 1969 could have met your criteria as being a suicide mission but fortunately it didn't and all went well.

This young lady is putting her life on the line and is willing to give it in order to advance science and humanity.

That's her choice and I salute her and hope all the best........

Apollo 11 in 1969 was intended to bring the astronauts home at end of mission. It was not even remotely a suicide mission.

These folks are literally signing up for a one-way flight.
