This Billionaire Governor Taxed the Rich and Increased the Minimum Wage -- Now, His State's Economy
Huffington Post ^ | 02/28/15 | Carl Gibson

Posted on 02/28/2015 6:10:04 PM PST by SendShaqtoIraq

"Minnesota's Governor raised the minimum wage, signed an equal pay act, and raised taxes on the rich to fund K-12 schools and higher education. Minnesota now has the 5th highest job growth in the nation and median income is $8,000 higher than the national average. By contrast, Governor Walker in the neighboring state of Wisconsin did the opposite: he gave the rich $2.1 billion in tax breaks, busted unions, and cut school funding more than any governor. Wisconsin now ranks 37th for job growth, median income is $800 below the national average, and the budget deficit is so large Walker has stopped making payments. Share this for every conservative who says raising taxes on the rich will destroy the economy. Cure them of their ignorance."

Carl Gibson, 27, is co-founder of US Uncut,

US Uncut has a graphic that some are trying to make go viral on FB and elsewhere. Apparently the Senate Dems tried to load up a Veteran's funding bill with all sorts of crazy pork and other special projects and the Senate GOP rejected it. The GOP Senators support funding Vets, just doing so in a bill unencumbered by payouts to all sorts of special interests.

The US Uncut graphic claims that the GOP Senators are attacking Veterans.

It's backfiring on US Uncut pretty badly. The Vets I know who have seen it aren't buying it, but are livid over how the Dems and their never-served supporters are trying to play political games with Veterans' benefits.

There are so many variables unmentioned it’s hardly necessary to point them out.

What are the main businesses and industries in the two states? What were their relative growth rates, etc. before these two governors took office? Etc.

Liberals love post-hoc-ergo-propter-hoc arguments in economics. It’s so much better than arguing actual cause-and-effect.

I would agree. BNSF has expanded greatly both in Minnesota and Wisconsin in working on the railways. Excel has also added quite a bit of jobs for building the Cap2020 project.

One other aspect of Wisconsin and Minnesota, More people live in Wisconsin and work in Minnesota. The two exceptions would be around Prairie Du Chein and La Crosse, otherwise at all other border crossings Minnesota cities have the jobs.

Wisconsin does have a larger population than Minnesota and it has North Chicago (Milwaulkee) so those things make the two states not an apples to apples comparison.

Dayton’s plan may be working right now, but history has shown that higher taxes on the rich and businesses causes a flight of businesses, business owners and the rich. California is a good example of the road Minnesota is on.

Mostly what we’ve got representing the low taxes position though is ALEC, and ALEC is an Amnesty loving deficit producing disaster.

Correction: Detaining as many illegal immigrants as possible at $122 per person and per day, paid for by taxpayers to crony capitalists, so NOT amnesty loving (but still deficit producing disasters).

State wide elections are decided by the cities, duluth and to some extent mankato and rochester.

MN is much like NY. If outstate was not out numbered we’d be a red state.

I don’t believe it. All that tax money went into lining the pockets of politicians.

And based on California, they vote Democrat nearly as high a percentage as blacks. It’s a difficult trend for our side.

Yeah. I know. Same when we lived in WA state. Seattle, Tacoma and Everett was all puking liberal to the core, and the rest of the state is over powered by their numbers. The Cascade Mountains actually divide the state into two states. The Western part of the state is liberals, and over into the Eastern part of the state is more conservative. When we lived up there people in the East wanted their own voice. Some spoke of voting to become a state on their own. So, if I remember right, the liberals in the State Legislature quickly passed a bill to prohibit a vote on breaking away and forming their own state. Those three cities I mentioned above are the vast majority of the voting block of the state. Spokane is not large enough to out vote any of those three cities. So, the stinking commies and homos run the state.
