Ok...I did laugh at the Justin Bieber line...

That being said..this meme has gotten old and corny...

I do wish they went out with a small tour...so deadheads across the country can see them, no way can I make it to Chicago or even afford it..

What a hoot!
Sure wish I could go.
No camping though.
It’s been far to long in between colors.

Yeah it is really disappointing how the whole thing has gone down. I would like to see them to pull a couple of “Warlocks” and just appear in different parts of the country in places like the Warfield, The Fox, Hampton, etc...
For the record, I got in both nights for the Warlocks without tix, so it can be done..

Funny thing is, you cannot see the Dead just once. I went to one Dead show and wound up going back the next 6 nights. In following years I saw them probably a dozen times.

And I cannot stand the Dead! I once told my Deadhead friend that every song sounds the same. He took out two live tapes, one from the early 70’s and another from the 90’s. Played the same song...

In the middle of one of the jams, he shouts, “See? I told you it was different.” It was a freaking “plink.” Same note, but it was hit differently. And he knew this.

I just shook my head.

I looked just for kicks...

Be ready to shell out about $ 7,500 to $ 8,000 for floor seats

I was lucky enough to get behind the stage with no view...oh well, as long as I’m in.

I had the strange experience in 1970 that they played my college homecoming. We'd never heard of them. "Who's playing Homecoming?" "I dunno some San Francisco band, Fateful Fred or something...". I went but I don't remember a thing. Saw them perhaps a dozen times total between 1970 and 1990.

> And I cannot stand the Dead!

LOL. Yeah, and I was never what you would call a Deadhead by any stretch, sort of a mild fan. I saw Hendrix, Cream, Blue Cheer, Iron Butterfly, Yes, ELP, Led Zeppelin, Leo Kottke, the Eagles, a ton of other bands through the 70's and 80's, and the Dead were in that mix, but I was mostly into Clapton, Yes, ELP.

Now here's the REALLY strange thing, for not being a Deadhead. I was in a top-caliber Grateful Dead cover band for many, many years. We played every venue within 200 miles that could hold up to around 1500 people. I still get folks I don't know, all ages 20-70, walking down the street, they see me, point and call out the name of the band, everybody laughs. It's freakin' weird -- some of them are too young to have come to the shows, so they must be exposed to our music/video some other way (parents I guess).

Yep, been there. Now, to be fair, the Dead in concert were occasionally brilliant, occasionally dogshit, and most often somewhere in the middle. The brilliant happened when they diverged from the norm, and went off into something inspired. Those were the truly amazing high points.

I'm gonna miss the final shows, but frankly, I want to remember the Dead at their high points from 30 years ago. Trey's an excellent guitarist, and he'll cover Jerry well. But it ain't Jerry. Dark Star Orchestra covered the Dead with staggeringly accurate authenticity, but it wasn't the Dead. So I wish Trey and the boys the very best of luck and I'm glad they're doing it. But I'm not unhappy that I'm missing it.
