I was wondering about that too, so I did a search and found this on a gay site:
Obama made a direct comparison of Selma to demonstrations of gay Americans in decades past, recalling the Stonewall riots of 1969 and demonstrations in San Francisco upon the assassination of gay supervisor Harvey Milk.I don't see the comparison. Do you?
Don't worry. It's coming.
I must be very dull-witted.
I don’t see the comparison.
I guess this stuff is just too deep and metaphysically subtle for my little ol’ brain.
I am a little older than Obama, and ,unlike him, was raised in the USA.
I remember the news footage of Selma, the firehoses, billy-clubs, and police dogs.
To equate the epic struggle of Black Americans to obtain equal rights with the whining of spoiled homosexuals demanding that we celebrate their unnatural and unhealthy lifestyle choice is a real insult to Black America. Why can’t they see this?
>>demonstrations in San Francisco upon the assassination of gay supervisor Harvey Milk.<<
Ooohh, I remember that. It was actually the “Choreographers’ Ball,” when hundreds of men would dress up in glitter, feathers and leather and prance around the Civic Center.
Unless he declares himself President-for-Life
Remember, Harvey Milk was not assassinated for being gay. The guy who killed him had been a friend, but opposed Milk’s gay legislation. Later, he got depressed that Milk had a great career and he didn’t. He quit his job, the mayor said he could have it back, but when he came and asked for it, the mayor said no because Milk didn’t want him back.
That’s when they guy cracked and killed the Mayor and Milk.
It was a horrible killing over a job dispute, like postal workers.
