Still, Mr. Lane underscored the advantage Mr. Cruz has with some evangelicals. Asked about the Texas senator’s faith, he responded, “Cruz is obviously born again and goes to First Baptist Houston.”

You mean like Gingrich, or Bobby Jindal, or Santorum?

Freerepublic endorsed a Catholic in the 2012 primary, and why are you fighting so hard to hijack this Cruz thread?

Why wouldn't I? Their essential christian doctrine is compatible with our founding principles.

Would you vote for a presidential candidate who did not believe in the God of the bible?

Christians are the foundation of conservatism, and the left has the vast majority of atheists and non-Christians, and indifferent Christians, so your arguments are really against the right.

What is your negative interest in Cruz being a member of a denomination that votes 80% republican, and the fact that you belong to a political forum of conservatives, which also means that the vast majority of us are Christians?

I’m not attacking Cruz. He’d get my vote in a second. Just pointing out a fact that people will discriminate with their vote based on religion. If Cruz were Catholic some people wouldn’t vote for him for that reason. For me, my discrimination starts and ends with Muslims. Pretty much everyone else is ok. Even atheists.

That’s the problem, isn’t it? How do we determine who is saved when Christians can’t even agree on it. That’s why with all due respect, I don’t rely on Christians to tell me who is and isn’t saved. Remember the parable of the sheep and the goats? I think it is wisest for Christians to work this out with God in fear and trembling.

Works for me. There are plenty of left leaning church groups.

Not so many though that it changes the fact that most anti-Christians are on the left, and most Christians are on the right, and the stronger the Christian faith in the individual, then he is vastly more likely to vote conservative.

When someone is attacking God or Christian faith, the odds are overwhelming that they are liberal, and if they are among the few who are republican, then they are almost certainly a rino.

You are determined to keep trolling the thread.

In the 2012 primary Freerepublic endorsed a Catholic, and much of the argument was that so much of FR wanted the other Catholic.

Would you vote for a Muslim under any circumstances? Answer honestly. Plenty of folks here would withhold their vote purely based on religion. If you don’t think that’s a fact I don’t know what to tell you.

Apples and Tire Iron comparison.

Catholics are considered Christian, as are Protestants, their approach to the Theology of Christianity is different, however, they are accepted as part of Christianity.

Islam is a pretend religion, created for global conquest.

You are stretching credulity really, really thin here.

It is not the job of the President to lead revival in this country. That job belongs to the church.

Do you really think not voting for a Muslim is just a theological thing? lol

I am a "Non-militant atheist."

Wow, you really are trying to hijack this thread and turn it against Cruz, like a true troll.

You are a militant atheist, and here you are tring to stir up a religious argument on this thread.

I’m interested in how presidents govern, not who they pray to. Their religion (or lack thereof) is none of my or anyone else’s business.

“Catholics are considered Christians”

I completely agree. Sadly, there are Freepers that don’t agree. The question is, does that effect their vote?

I responded to the guy up thread who stated “ who cares?” Based on the question - is Ted Cruz born again. Frankly, I agree with his statement who cares.

To: CynicalBear
Never said I wanted to eliminate god. Is the Catholic God and the Protestant God the same God? Seems like many people don’t agree. Every day another thread opens the wounds.
Just don’t see how this gets Cruz elected, or Walker, or Palin, etc and not Hillary or Warren or some other asshole determined to destroy our country.

Already said I’d vote for Cruz in a second. Or Palin, or Walker, etc. It would be tough to pull the lever for Jeb, but if push came to shove, I probably would.

Being an Atheist has nothing to do with it.

One issue voters are the scourge of the party.

And those posting such tripe on FreeRepublic are usually those that support candidates like Mitt Romney who supports Abortion and the Gay Agenda.

It's like a big Red Flag!
