In 1897, the Hoosier legislature tried to define the value of pi as 3.2.

Passed the House without a dissenting vote, but the Senate tabled it, after realizing just in time what an asinine notion it was.

That’s completely insane! There’s NOTHING more American than apple pi!

And cherry pi, pumpkin pi, chocolate pecan pi, banana cream pi, peach pi, blueberry pi, coconut custard pi, and strawberry rhubarb pi and Boston cream pi are pretty darn good too!

Some thought it was a tiger and others thought it was a fattening dessert - Common Core strikes w/o discrimination (except against those it supposedly helps - like all fedgov ops).

Heck, even the “Church of the SubGenius” recognizes Pi day on their bizarre calendar. So it *must* be legitimate, at least as legitimate as is April 20th, “420” day, for marijuana smokers, aka Hitler’s birthday.

It’s somewhat NSFW, and many of the references will be missed, but it demonstrates how frivolous most ad hoc holidays can be, like “Yell ‘fudge!’ at North American Cobras Day” (June 2nd.)

Republicans vote against Pi Day. Why?

Because the country is near collapse and we have an Emperor who sidesteps the Congress to rule by fiat.

And this is meaningless fluff.

Personally, I don't think this should have even come up for vote.

I see your point. If that is the case, would it have not been better to abstain rather than play? A couple of these guys asked their constituents what they should do. Isn’t that a waste of time and money?

I imagine it costs something, in time and money, for these silly resolutions to come up, but I wanted to know if there was a serious cost involved or if the no votes were in response to something else going on at the time.

Because Pi day happens every year on 22/July. March 14 is inexact.
