So basically the people who told us that Netanyahu was done are telling us how badly Cotton is viewed.

I don't know that the media hype is working. Most people have studied enough US history to know that the US Senate has a very important role in ratifying treaties.

Senator Cotton has done very well in interviews. He's an excellent additon to the CruzCrew in the US Senate.

There are two types of American treaties. There’s the type that a President negotiates and is never approved by the Senate....meaning it’s just him and the foreign power in agreement. The second is where the treaty is concluded and the Senate agrees....thus it’s a full treaty and supported by the US government.

In recent days....I’ve read that the President has hinted that he might sign the treaty and never submit it to the Senate. In this case....I’d call it a third type of treaty....something that historically....we’ve never encountered before.

Maybe we ought to reach out and help him properly entitle the paperwork....because it’s more of a “memo” than an actual treaty then. So, when he concludes this business and has a big ceremony...we’d just refer to it as the “Nuke Memo”. Under this way of thinking....he could write up hundreds of memos with various parties (even with Madonna or the Chicago Bulls).

Interesting that the letter used to be from all those senators and now it’s just Cotton’s letter. How Alinskyite of them.

The basic Republican strategy in every interview with the press should be the upfront caveat that they know they are speaking with an active Democrat spokesman.

Stop playing into the media’s big lie that they are presenting facts. Challenge them on their obvious partisan leanings and treat them as a hostile entity.

What is a treaty? It's a Law with equal authority to the Constitution (where there is no conflict, obviously). The President does not have the authority to make law unilaterally. The first type of negotiation you mention above is generally about diplomatic process (embassies, security, et al). In those negotiations, the President can't change American law (as Obama is attempting to do).

Existing law (passed by Congress and signed by the President) is sanctions for Iran. The problem with the current negotiations is that the sanctions are the main thing on the table. The President doesn't have the authority to unilaterally put them on the table. Any agreement which alters our stance on Iran in regard to existing law is null and void--which is why the 47 Senators sent their letter of warning.
