Zionist James Bond: Mossad officer who hunted down those behind 1972 Munich massacre dead at 87
National Post ^ | March 18, 2015 | The Telegraph

Michael Harari, who has died aged 87, was a high-ranking intelligence officer in the Mossad and was known as “the Zionist James Bond”.

In 1970, Harari was appointed head of the Mossad’s special operations division, Caesarea, and established within it the Kidon (“Spear”) unit that specialised in assassinations. Two years later, Palestinian militants belonging to an organisation calling itself “Black September” killed 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympic Games. Subsequently, Golda Meir’s government instructed the Mossad to track down those responsible for the Munich terrorist attack and kill them one by one.

That is either a Jetfire or Minx. I have also owned several of those. They were nice guns, the .25 was totally reliable and the .22 short was reliable but not totally.

I also had one with a four inch barrel. It would have made a nice plinker except it shot to the left and there was no way to adjust the sights.

It was surprising just how accurate a tiny 2 inch barrel Beretta could be.

That is an old one.

When I got mine around 1974, they had already gone to a 1911 type safety.

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
George Orwell

The world is woefully shy of leaders like Golda Meir and Moshe Dayan. It is scary to know that Israel was seriously considering a leftist appeaser for a leader.

Now that’s a Beretta Jetfire .25 cal. Got one just like it but w/o the suppressor. Fine little pistol.

There was one case of mistaken identify, Norway or Sweden, where a waiter on a date was mistaken for the target — and killed. The group was recalled to Israel. I believe there is only one Black September henchman still alive. They seem to have gotten to all the others.

Oops maybe it is a .22. My .25 is circa 1965 and doesn’t have the safety.

They are a really interesting pistol. Tip up barrel, no extractor and the trigger guard doubles as the spring for the tip up mechanism.

I wish they still made them.

they prolly used newer ones also, but they would never have used a Minx as the barrel is to short to get decent power from a .22 and iirc it's a .22 short

i have a .32 Tomcat that i wouldn't want to use as a hit gun either

No they used the model 70 in .22LR. Sometimes they are marked model 71 but both of mine were model 70s.

I bought mine at a place in Tulsa called Looboyles. Oddly they had two models. One was imported by Galef and was $89. The other by I don’t know who and were around $250.

Of course I bought the $89 ones. One was as well finished as the other but they had slightly different looking finishes. I think mine were aluminum framed and the other might have been steel.

I don’t think there was moral ambiguity in “Munich”. It was pretty clear who the terrorists were. That said, it did show that killing people, even terrorists, isn’t totally clean. I guess there are plenty of action flicks where it’s black and white, though.

Yes, but if memory serves, Eric Bana is discussing what they are doing with some comrade in a stairwell.

Pretty clear what Spielberg was going for.

He wanted to play both sides.

That's why I won't watch Munich again.

That lukewarm attitude for me makes it a "see once and forget" type of film.

yup, thats how its done. hunt down and execute people who have wronged you.

Are you saying that facetiously or seriously? The civil gov. does have the right to employ the just use of the sword of man, but if every person blew away everyone that wronged them then you would have anarchy, which usually is followed by a form of dictatorship.
