A San Jose woman will have to pay $3,000 for her illegal collection of stuffed wildlife.
In addition to the fine, Dora Zepeda's must serve 300 hours of community service for possessing illegal birds of prey in her apartment.
Authorities caught Zepeda after she bought a stuffed French barn owl on eBay.
That bird is a protected species.
She could have claimed she had amorous relations with each before they died and who were the officers to judge as “love knows no labels”.
Might not get her out of being charged, but it would give hilarious stories or the news and liberals to wring their hands over.

It’s illegal to even utter the words that you have one for sale. You can’t even “offer” a feather for sale. Chances are the seller is actually a U.S. Fish and Wildlife agent in a sting operation. It’s so much easier to make a criminal rather than actually catch one. A real feather in their cap so to speak...
No. I'm mistaken. There have been even stupider things that "Liberals" have come up with. Just when you think they've hit rock bottom--with stupidity, tyranny, injustice, intolerance, cruelty, greed--they surprise you again and sink even lower.

It is that they are endangered animals.
The textbook example was that for many years, the US government claimed ownership of all bald eagles, and parts thereof. And this got weird, because eagle feathers are a big part of Indian religious ceremonies. At first, when a dead eagle was recovered, the government would remove then laser serial number each feather shaft. Tribes would have to request a given number of eagle feathers for a particular event, the paperwork would take months, then sign for the feathers. Then after the ceremony they would be returned to the government.
Violating the rules, killing an eagle or even harvesting a dead eagle had a whopping fine and jail time.
Fortunately, because of the eagle woman up in Alaska, there is now a surfeit of eagles. Turns out the solution to an endangered species is making more of them.
