I’ve seen Flying Dog Old Bay on the shelves. Does it actually taste like Old Bay?

If it does, I’m not trying their oyster version :)

Growing up in Maryland I used to love to visit Baltimore and smell the McCormick spices smell wafting around the harbor.

I know what you mean... I’d just as soon bread my own with seasoned corn meal, if I’m going to fry it. Or a beer batter.

MrD is the shrimp cook around here. Gumbo, Etouffee, boiled shrimp whatever. He used to use Old Bay but now he used a seasoning from Louisiana called Slap Ya Mama. His gumbo is declared the best by lots of people.

” I ate something I cannot find in Texas, but they were the best seafood I have had...fried clam strips. I have look all over the country and cannot find a similar food.”

Try “Quality Seafood” on Airport in Austin. They’ve got the best darn breaded fried clam strips I’ve had since the Jersey shore!

On the appetizers menu.

"Nothing beats Maryland-style seafood."

EXCEPT Florida Panhandle (Panama City and Apalachicola) seafood.

I have had a lot of both. Maryland's muddy (by comparison) water does nothing favorable for the flavor. The cleaner water does make a difference (unless you have an affinity for mud, etc.)

Same for oysters. There is a chartered flight every night during oyster season that delivers fresh Apalachicola to the oyster bar at Grand Central Station in NYC.

Smart Ass????!!!!!

Me?

That's it. Stay on your side. You'll never eat lunch in Deal again.

Yes. Yes. OK! The Maryland Blue Crab (Callinectes Sapidus) is a very unique creature and because of the Chesapeake's unusual something or other, tastes better than any other crab. Olde Bay? Nonsense. Plenty better.

Lady, that lobsta ain't dead. It's just lazy.

Mabel oughta be in jail, doin' that to a lobsta. Tourist clue: The fancier the recipe, the deada the lobsta was when they started.

Ya want fancy? Get an enormous lobsta, 5-8-10 pounds, somethin' 'bout the size of a big woman's leg, cook'im live in light spicy tomato sauce, serve in one piece on a bed of spaghetti. Invite small group good friends in old clothes. Each to bring a big bottle of dry white somethin' or other, ice cold. Attack! (No knives, please.)

Doubt O’Malley will get anywhere. States a mess and he couldn’t even get his Lt Governor elected and that was supposed to be a piece of cake. Don’t forget:
Gun Bans and one of the worst anti-gun states
The rain tax
2 Special sessions of state legislature to raise taxes
Raised the gas tax
Repealed the death penalty
$800 million budget hole
Gay marriages in Maryland
Raised the minimum wage
Easier for children of immigrants to attend local colleges and universities
Mismanaged Obamacare rollout (one of the worst in the country)

I could go on but it would slow the internet bandwidth down.
