I figure living on a black basalt mountain in the middle of a desert is good, as the zombies would be jerky long before they got near. Black basalt can get to 200F and higher. As long as they don't climb up to you at night.

This is one thing I hate about the internet age. See, back in the day, if you were fairly creative, you could delude yourself into thinking that you had some original ideas. Now, as soon as you have what you think is an original thought, you’ll find out five minutes later that someone already beat you to it.

[ In the book World War Z, the zombies froze in the winter but thawed and re-animated in the spring. ]
Move to nebraska, during the winter use sledge hammer to shatter zombies, problem solved

Just wait until a zombie bites a shark. Making boogieman's point a little earlier, it's already happened. Lucio Fulci's 1979 "spaghetti-zombie" movie Zombie, aka Zombi 2.

Much of a muchness. Black basalt gives off heat all night long and is nowhere near cool by dawn. And this is after the zombies had hiked across a waterless desert.
Years ago, when the government was contemplating very long term storage of high grade nuclear waste, perhaps 500 or a thousand years in the future, they seriously considered covering the site with a mountain of black basalt boulders. Only very slowly eroding, it would make treasure hunting on the site extremely hard.

That and people that can’t be helped should they have some fatal contagious disease or a dose of radiation to where nothing you can do will help them, they are going to die.
There is no point in wasting limited medical supplies on people that no matter what you do they can’t live and in the case of a disease they can contaminate others and spread the disease.

Don’t count on islands to save your bacon, cripple.
George Romero’s “Land of the Dead” (Dennis Hopper) documents that zombies can walk on river and lake bottoms to get from point A to your tasty point Brains.

Ok, then how about this one?
A zombie and a vampire get into a fight, and the zombie bites the vampire, but the vampire also bites the zombie.
Do we get a vampiric zombie, a zombified vampire, both, or neither?

Pea Patch Island in Delaware is a tourist attraction. The prison from The War of Yankee Aggression is still standing. It is a substantial fortress and could withstand zombie attacks.
