NEW YORK (MEDIA GENERAL) Trust no one. The famous phrase from the X-Files is coming back.
Fox announced David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be back to star in a six-episode run of The X-Files.
Agents Mulder and Scully will be back starting this summer. The shows creator, Chris Carter, said that he considers the shows absence like a 13-year commercial break. Carter said that the good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger.
Fox brought back 24 last spring as a limited episode series. NBC also plans to rerack a hit by bringing back Heroes Reborn as a miniseries next season.
X-Files had a nine-season history on Fox from 1993-2002. It even sparked two major motion pictures.
Variety reports that the episodes may spark renewed interest in the show from subscriber video on demand (SVOD) platforms since Fox used 24 to cut a deal with Amazon Prime.
The X-Files premiered on Fox in September 1993 and ran for nine seasons. Fox wasnt releasing further details about the revived show.
Sorry I am still more of a Carl Kolchack night stalker kind of guy.
I like the episode where he killed a werewolf with a 12 ga. loaded with dimes.
I liked this series a lot but thought it went downhill after the movie.
My biggest disappointment with it was the killing off of interesting characters like Deep Throat, X, Mulder & Scully’s fathers, and Syndicate members.
It went downhill after Christ Carter stopped writing it.
I have the entire series on dvd. some were really bad but some had twighlight zone writers and they were great.
I still think this spawned Men in black also.
I’ve watched the 2 seasons of Gillian Anderson in The Fall on netflix.
Nothing like Scully.
I used to be an X-files junky. But the season after the first movie (and really the first movie) just lost me. 1 too many times there was a big “reveal” of the secret masters plans which turned out to be a group of even MORE secret masters pulling their strings.
And really Anderson is doing much better work right now on Hannibal and The Fall.
It just is what it is
Woo-hoo!
Duchovny did a 6 year stint as an alcoholic novelist, and Anderson has done all kinds of stuff including being Hannibal Lecter’s shrink. They’re not typecast at all.
disclaimer;
Some things I say AIN'T true
I bought one of these
as I think William B. Davis is one of the best TV villains I had seen. Funny thing, when I wear it, people either avoid eye contact or (the younger ones) pump their fists and say "All Right!".
Sadly, I think he'd be too old now. I got a kick out of an interview they had with him and asked if he believed in any of the episodes. He scoffed at the idea "not a bit of it" but regretted he never had a chance to do a love scene with Dana. :-)
Some great CSM (Cigarette Smoking Man) quotes:
"Anyone who can appease a man's conscience can take his freedom away from him."
"Your lies have killed more men in a day than I have in a lifetime." (eerily familiar today)
Are you saying that once an article on a subject has been posted no one should ever post another article on that subject?
Scully’s looking good.
I should also note that the other thread is from a different source, FoxNews online, and was started less than twelve hours prior to this one. So, similar. Not a dupe. Perhaps a Title Search would have helped, and a bump on the previous thread instead of a new one. Just a thought.
‘...Carter said that the good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger.’
Good news or bad, it’s definitely true.
Bookmark. I loved this show.
I hope they don’t turn it into something political now, though. Maybe they’ll finally bring the story to a conclusion.
