I saw a very confusing scene from the first show maybe 4-5 episode. Rick has left Morgan and his son to look for Lori and Carl, he stops at a gas station he hears someone walking he gets down and looks under the cars. He see's the feet and legs of a little girl shuffling along, she stops reaches down and picks up a stuffed animal from the ground, he gets up the little girl is walking with her back to him. Rick calls out to the girl, she turns and starts coming towards him.
Her mouth has a large wound on the side, looks like a walker. When she gets closer Rick shoots and kills her! If she was a walker why would she bend down and pickup the stuffed animal!
Or did Rick kill a kid that was injured, I just can not decide which one to go with?

As long as it doesn’t go chasing some fat Japanese kid, I don’t care what the balloon stands for. I hated that movie as a kid.

I’m trying to figure out what I’m missing. I like some forms of the horror genre, but mostly in book form.
I used to read each new book by Dean Koontz until he made the characters crack corny jokes page after page. I guess I like the intrique, but not the gooey residue left on the floors.
1) Like others have said they originally said/had the zombies returning to what was familiar to them
but also
2) I think the little girl picking up the stuffed animal made the viewer, as well as Rick, wonder if she had turned. The show was new to us and the zombie apocalypse was new to Rick, it was a wake up call for viewer as well as character, and an introduction to a scary new world.
She needs to find a new dentist....
I just looked it up. It was a stupid French kid. I wonder what Japanese kid movie in the sixties bothered me. It know it had a fat kid in it. I still hate the Red Balloon.

In one of the first episodes a zombie tried to open the front door of what had been her house by turning the doorknob...remember? Seems the zombies might have a little of their old self in there somewhere.

This is true, and was addressed in the Zombie Survival Guide. Wait long enough, and they rot. Of course, until they completely rot, it would be prudent to wear ankle protection, especially since no one is mowing the grass anymore. Never know what you're gonna find in the tall brush...
Plus, it's a TV show. =D
