BOL!
We have and RCA tv that is over 25 years and has a great picture.
This article might explain why Comcast, AT&T, Dish and Direct TV installers/techs have made offers for our old tv and our sons’s and nephew’s old tvs that still work.

You don't have to own a smart tv or smart phone with your FR past:

BOL, my wife believes that all of us are monitored in many phases of modern life.
Then she jokes, “Whoever is monitoring us had better be drinking Mountain Dew and swallowing No Doze tablets to keep from getting a reverse Qwerty imprint on their forehead when they doze off in boredom.”

I wanted to touch base with you regarding 3D television.
As you predicted over a year ago, perhaps as long as 18 months to two years, 3D has clearly become a fad that is fading away.
I have been watching the new sets that are coming out, and 3D is vanishing.
I love mine. I was wrong when I objected to your prediction.
Wish I wasn’t.

There is no opt out provision.Didn't the display make you "opt in" to use the functions?

Its a Smart TV. Of course a consumer that paid extra for a TV set with additional functionality would want to use the “good features” but in this situation Samsung is forcing them to give up their privacy to use them. Its designed like a lobster trap; one way in; no way out unless you pay the price. There will be a price that Samsung will pay somewhere for this; either a lawsuit, paying the programmers to rewrite and code the software or loss of sales revenue. Choose one.

Wouldn’t it be possible in one’s router to block your TV’s access to the www ?
I want to stream video from a local p.c. that acts as a server of the movies I have. So can I block all other access thru smart settings on my router ?

Been there. We have antenna TV, but its nice to stream video files from inside my house. I just want to block the outside world from this set.
I got suspicious as I was just watching antenna TV today and it cut in and out and went black. It turned out to be my internet router having a fit at that same time.\
My immediate solution was to turn off the wi-fi setting in the tv. The TV thinks is has no connection now.

My sister told me that if you turn off the voice function it can’t spy on you.

I am not sure what your first question is about. The router is sort of a firewall. Only certain approved data (websites, downloads, etc.) can come in. Only certain approved data (emails, etc.) can go out. That depends on your settings.
If you have a router, you probably have a home network. A pc, laptop, tablet, perhaps some streaming devices such as a ROKU box. In order to 'connect' a new device, you have to enter your router's ID and password.
==
Streaming from PC to TV has become much easier the last few years. It can be done using hardware (devices) and software.
If you have a smart TV, it already has apps that would allow you to access video on your PC. If you do NOT have a smart TV, you would need an access device, such as a ROKU, Western Digital TV box, Chrome stick, Amazon Fire stick, etc.
Through your device, which is hooked to the TV and is probably wireless, you can use softare/apps to access your PC. One such software program is PLEX. [http://www.plex.tv] Plex has both a free version and an extended pay version.
It depends on your equipment and how much you want to invest to get it all set up. It isn't that difficult to set up, but it does require some technical knowledge to get it all to work together.
You might read some of the 'how to' guides on various websites and also check youtube help videos.
