Actually, Josephus' birth is placed in 37/38, so he was born just a few years after the crucifixion of Jesus.

I recall reading a column decades ago which was reacting to someone back then claiming that Jesus never existed. The columnist's reaction was "if that's true then the Thirty Years War wasn't necessary."

The earliest biography of Alexander the Great was written 400 years after his death. No problem with that one.
