They used to think that about Komodo Dragons. However, in recent years it has been discovered that they actually have venom: Komodo dragon venom.

The same is true for monitor lizards, and iguanas.

I didn’t know that about the monitor lizards. I’ll tell you that when you’re eating in a pleasant outdoor restaurant in Southeast Asia and one of those suckers comes strolling past your table, you do take notice.
