Is it? All for the mammon of unrighteousness to fund lobbies? Is that how the apostles did it?
IF...BIG IF...someone is truly not wanting to do business with a gay marriage because of religious reasons (and not just because it disgusts you)...then for EVERY wedding you could put scriptures on the boxes the cakes come in...and when you take their order...you can remind them that sodomy is a sin...."would you like sprinkles? Have you ever read Romans 1? I can quote it and sodomy is a sin against God........what color do you want the letters?"
Finally, a thinking priest.
I have a suspicion that few would accept the service the business is offering.
If they do, it is an opportunity to express your faith to those that may need it.
It's not about the money. It's never about the money. It's about the message. This spreads the Christian message where it is needed. That's what Jesus would do.
Can one of our Freeper Attorneys provide the legal pros and cons of this idea. I like the idea but am not sure of the legal problems that might come from this tactic.
I don't think that's the point. The point is to kill the enthusiasm of the gays assaulting Christian businesses and thereby stop them altogether.
Not an ideal situation solution, but if it reaches the point where the choice is prison or bankruptcy, Id support it. I am not sure I’d limit the donations to lobbies, but definitely it would go to a cause that the moonbats would not like.
Good idea except the gay cake mafia isn’t interested in procuring services from Christian business owners. They want to stop you and me and everyone else from patronizing such businesses.
Won’t happen by giving in to them and making ourselves look like servants of Mammon, thus hypocrites. Does not demonstrate a faith in God but in the world.
Think about the kind of thinking behind it. The First Amendment is utterly undermined; you can’t get it back by lobbying for it.
I’d like to hear from one, too.
My layman’s opinion would be that as long as you’re upfront about the type of catering you do, there would be no problem.
No, if you rob a bank and give the money to charity, it doesn’t absolve you of the sin.
It doesn’t do it in this case either, you can’t be a party of it.
Actually, since the bakers will be donating all the money (even the product costs and labor), it doesn’t look like it’s about mammon.
That is correct. And it’s also a step along the way to banning other religious activities. Totalitarians cannot be lobbied into restoring freedoms.
Not following you — this seems to be a case where everyone would be talking and saying what they want. You see this as undermining the First Amendment? I’ll need some detail.
So, what is the difference between Christians catering an imitation homo same sex wedding, and a Christian eating of the sacrifices to idols or to Caesar?
This isn't a game we're playing. This is a war, and it won't be won by caving in, no matter how cleverly you do it. We'll win by asserting that we have no NEED to indulge in this kind of trickery, because we have the right to refuse their business in the first place.
Of course it is. Do you think the apostles raised money in such a fashion, in order to lobby Rome for aught? No shortage of sodomites during their time.
