An honest conversation is one thing I'm cool with.

But I've long had the impression too many here (and it may be amplified by the ability to say something in relative anonymity) are spoiling for a fight or to get in someone's face. That's not going to help anyone. Probably pushes them farther away.

Think of it this way: “Gosh, how can we get some of that homosexual’s money away from him so he doesn’t give it to Hillary’s campaign? I know, let’s sell him something so he won’t have the money! Then, we can give it to Cruz’s campaign!”

That’s is how to think of this.

Money again. Are we not instructed to overcome evil with good? How is validating their marriages “good”?

Money that comes from the gays seeking wedding cakes is not money coming from Islamic states, remember.

“Great way to undermine Ted.”

How? Liberals that are for faggots will not vote for Cruz regardless.

“Are we not instructed to overcome evil with good?”

How is taking evil money destined for Hillary and giving it to Cruz not overcoming evil by giving to good?

You are not making sense. Seems you are just arguing about not giving money to Cruz.

It strikes me that this is a civil matter as we don’t live in a theocracy. There is a state’s interest in allowing and encouraging arrangements that produce future citizens and keep the accounting reasonably straight regarding who is related to who. We’ve all grown pretty silly indeed if we forget this basic fact.

We are to some degree modeled on Rome, and while it appears there were gay marriages, it also appears they didn’t go down the road of political correctness. No my friend, if a Roman was butt hurt you can bet there were bruises to show for it.

Whether or not we play soup nazi with baked goods is not a Christian thing really, it is a Libertarian thing, but there are too few of them around to hope to prevail fighting their own battles. They do seem to have a very high opinion of themselves, however, and so it is no wonder if they try to use as dupes people they regard as superstitious. Being a Christian, I am far too used to this drill :(

How is it “giving to good”, first of all? I do not recall money raised from evil being able to contribute to good, historically or contemporarily.

It also validates the Dem-Alinsky meme of “conservatives care only about money”. Cruz’s ability to support traditional marriage versus gay marriage is undermined as well.

And no business can ever refuse to cater a gay wedding on the principle of conscience again—by setting this precedent.

The real fight is in not blurring the line between Church and State, we don’t want to set the stage for politicians to be able to demand that heretics be brought on as Church leaders.

It’s not “playing Soup Nazi”. That’s a liberal talking point.

You either have free exercise of religion or you don’t have any exercise of religion.

Really? Taking from Hillary and giving to Cruz escapes you as turning evil into good? You can’t possibly be that stupid.

Seems your real beef is the giving to Cruz.

We don’t live in a theocracy, our founders were no fools. As a Christian if a gay person came into my bakery for a wedding cake, I would make sure that it was baked and decorated to the best of my ability. I would be sure to give a heaping measure while bearing in mind that my Father in heaven makes it rain on the just and unjust alike. My job is to be a good witness, not a part of a pitchfork and torch wielding mob. You never know how God will use you to further His kingdom.

The “theocracy” argument is a liberal (false) one; nobody is putting forth any law to establish a federal church. The point of the First Amendment is having the ability to have free exercise of religion especially because the federal government is not theocratic.

That is not Christian when one’s actions works against one’s free exercise of religion, with all due respect. And the gays are not doing it to make themselves more free, but to attack Christians—who thus far are their only targets in this respect.

How about as a Christian and as an American *you* are free to service a homosexual wedding any way you want, and Olog is free to NOT service a homosexual wedding. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why an American Christian would condone anything but freedom in how one chooses to run their business.

There have to be ground rules we all abide by, otherwise you just end up with a mess. There is a reason why Libertarian colonies always fail.

Well then as a method of attack its going to be about as effective as knocking on the door of a Jehovahs Witness and asking for a copy of the WatchTower.

And you are suggesting our starting place has nothing to do with freedom. Poor place to start, IMO.

No. I am suggesting that as a nation we have grown unused to thinking. We are kind of feel our way around and jump at the first reasonable sounding justification for our views instead of thinking through where that will would take us. The argument against gay marriage is what society will get out of the arrangement. We’ve made everything about touchy feelyness and have let Political Correctness grow like a cancer.
