My parents forced me to eat beets. When I threatened to run away, they said if I do, they were going to move and leave no forwarding address.........
My parents never did that, nor did I with mine....just expected them to *try* a taste of something new ....and if they didn't like it, that was OK .... along with a lecture on how our taste buds change as we get older and an admonishment to try it again, sometime.
It was cauliflower for me. They made me eat it and I ran outside and threw up. Last time they forced me to eat anything.
