As part of the Armys mandatory Sexual Harassment and Assault Prevention (SHARP) training, some units are requiring Soldiers to participate in a Walk a Mile In Her Shoes event, in order to bring awareness to rape and sexual assault, and stop mens sexualized violence against women.
Sounds positive, right? Well theres just one little detail that is causing quite the controversy, as these male Soldiers will all be forced to cross-dress, wearing red high heeled shoes during the 1.26 mile walk. One cadet from Arizona ROTC said that any personnel who refused to participate in the event, would receive a negative counseling form from their leadership, which would state that the Soldier didnt support their units rape and sexual prevention program. Although the Battalion Commander of the ROTC department denied that the training was mandatory, a slide of the training was uncovered, revealing the time, place, and location that all cadets were required to report to for the event. Its amicable that the military is taking sexual assault prevention seriously, but is humiliating male Soldiers in order to make that point really the best course of action? Thats not even considering that wearing red high-heel shoes violates the militarys regulation pertaining to the wear and appearance of the Army uniform.

This has got to be an April fool’s joke.
I see, I didn’t know that active duty could join ROTC.
Were the people described in this article soldiers?
What kind of military pay were you collecting as a soldier in ROTC?
It was at Arizona State University; you cannot be an active duty soldier and be in ROTC (unless that’s changed since I was in during the 80’s). In short, the article was poorly written and the writer doesn’t know the difference between a soldier and a cadet.
Oh dear, so her mission is not breaking things and winning wars. It is carrying out the Obama mission to remake America and to produce a military that will be loyal to Obama’s view of the US and the world. The military is undoubtedly now filled with such officers.
I’m curious about this being a soldier while taking ROTC, were you collecting your military pay and building time to retirement and/or to fulfilling your time of enlistment?
How many years was it?
I was getting paid for my monthly reserve drills and as a third and fourth year cadet. Believe me, it wasn’t much money. That and a job helped me pay my way through college.
Yes, it was called the “Simultaneous Membership Program”.
What. A. Bunch. of. Assh@les. If it’s so hard to walk in heels we need to ban them. The,.... THHHEEEE only reason they wear them is to make their looks (legs) more sexy, ergo asking for asking for more attention and ergo,GETTING more attention.
Not so long ago you could be Court Martialed and thrown out of the military for this. Now under Hussein 0bama it is "mandatory"???
So a soldier can be in ROTC, but ROTC has nothing to do with being a soldier, it doesn’t make one a soldier, nor is it part of his military command, nor pay, nor time in service?
It is something that he is doing on his own and on his own time, but with an obligation to active duty after it is over?
Oh, for crying out loud. Even females have the option to not wear heels. This is silly.
So ROTC counts as active duty time for time in service and retirement?
Those are awesome boots!
How did we fall so far so fast?...Many of US didn’t vote?
