Perhaps these officers knew what an incompetent she is.
I’m sure she will be glad to replace those who resigned with cronies that will support her no matter how incompetent she is.
Perhaps these officers knew what an incompetent she is.

That’s a dumb-ass thing to say.
Maybe, maybe not. This story may not be as simple as it sounds. Another thread on FR yesterday addressed it in more detail.
I notice that comments from the citizenry indicate they were unaware there even were six police officers.
Faced with the prospect of having to get out and do something to get paid, a lot of lay abouts in the municipality chose to hit the road in search of another easy gig.
That was my first thought. Not her skin color. What creds does she have and what is her background on issues? If she is a friend of Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson and Eric Holder, I'd quit too regardless of her/him, black/white/red/brown, athiest/Christian/Muslim or cartoon character.
I suspect she may hate police officers and think they are all racists. Did she run on pushing sensitivity training among the ranks? Has she made comments assuming the police force needs to be "fundamentally changed"?
I bet there is more to the story than Yahoo reports.
Probably did since it was a town of only 700 so it could be everyone knows everyone, at least in the gov there.
It’d be interesting to know how many of those 700 residents are gov employees. How many does it take to manage a town of that size? Shouldn’t be a lot, but last I looked at BLS statistics, about 1 out of 14 people in the country is a gov employee, which is pretty shocking.
So if they follow the national average of about 7%, then 49 are employees and about 24 walked.
Six police officers in a town of 700 people? That is very odd.
The town of 2,000 that I went to HS in had a 1 town cop, in addition to the County sheriff and 2 deputies (who obviously worked then entire county of 6,000 people). The smaller towns of of 100-200 in the county had no cops.
From the article,Lisa Kirk, 58, who owns a convenience store in Parma, was surprised that the town even had six people on its police force.
There was never police around in town, she told the wire service. We have no idea where the six officers worked or who they are. If they did work, I dont know where they were.
Kirk said her shop has been burglarized nine times over the past decade.
“Perhaps these officers knew what an incompetent she is.”
Uh, you’re making quite an assumption there! She is a Republican! Been in the govt. as a town clerk for years. Town was run by a democrat mayor for 37 years. Probably a lot of corruption.
The police seemed to have resigned due to a lack of confidence in the new mayor.
Of course, 6 police for a town of 700 does seem a high number.
One other possibility. The article says that “Rich Medley . . . said the towns officers had several run-ins with members of Byrds family.”
Possibly she has a few troublesome youts in her family, who have had run-ins with the law? Pure speculation. But it’s unusual for the media to even hint at such a possibility.
As for those questioned who say they never saw the police doing their jobs, . . . whose side are they on?
I’d say we need more first-hand information. But we’re not going to get it from the media, that’s for sure.
She’s a republican; The former 37 year serving mayor a democrat. In a town of 740, I bet there was a lot of nepotism in those jobs. And possibly covered up corruption.
Perhaps these officers knew what an incompetent she is.
Possibly, or it could also mean that after 37 yrs of Rat rule, the place resembles Chicago.

Hey that’s the price you pay when you don’t get out and vote!
If she had let it be known that she was going to fire everyone in order to make her administration “more inclusive” then yes, if I were an employee there, I would quit.
How does a town of 700 even fund their own department? That’s barely even considered a town.
I have read that she is a REPUBLICAN. and why would some city with a population of 700 need so many cops! Even our small burg only had a night cop back when it was less than 1000!
Obviously, racism and sexism drove the election of the black, female candidate with no qualifications other than her family members had had previous run-ins with the local law enforcement.
Yesterday a thread posted several times that she is a Republican, and speculated that the long time mayor may have been up to his elbows in cronyism and corruption. They speculated that’s why those who had been getting favors and cash were leaving. I don’t know if this is true, and in my town, the mayor’s race is run without parties- not Dem or GOP.
I suspect that this thread was started by some orthopedic surgeon who was looking for work, i.e., replacing all those knees that have been worn out from all this jerking. Has anyone asked how many of the town’s employees who resigned were white? Did she campaign on a platform of reform by cleaning out the waste and corruption? Did the mostly white residents vote for her in large numbers? Is this just an example of anti-democrat sentiment that’s popping up the last couple of years?
I have defended FR against a lot of criticism that everyone on here is just an old, white, rascist, red neck, knuckle dragging idiot. Some days it seems those critics might have a point. Get a grip, people.
