The Apple Watch Is Neat, But That Is All
Business Day Live ^ | April 23 2015, 12:42 UTC | Jeffrey Joslin

PEOPLE have been raving about the Apple Watch, so it is probably time for a rant from a devil’s advocate.

For starters, Apple’s smartwatch is neat, but that might be the only thing it has going for it. If the product’s intended function is providing you with around-the-clock health information, then there are a lot of roadblocks that need to be addressed.

Here are five: (...) 1. Battery life is as terrible as you would expect. 2. Too little screen for too much information. 3. It is too big. 4. Even the positive reviews are negative. 5. The Apple Watch could still fail. (...)

The hippies are gone. What we have today are hipsters. Them and the gays are who Apple markets to figuring that if they idolize an Apple product the sheeple will follow. Think urbanite hipster trend setter then you will “get” why people buy silly items like this CRApple watch

There's no point even going to the religious question with these Apple threads, because the hatred is so visceral and misplaced that you have to ask yourself, "Is this person actually afraid that they are gay?"

It's a weird type of projection to be so focused on someone else's sex life when it has no bearing on your own– again, they're afraid of something and it's all piling out here.

"Tim Cook wrote a letter expressing his private views on a public matter, I disagree, so I'm going to disrupt everyone else innocently talking about his company's products!"

We'll see if Marxy responds, or continues to play deaf.

What kind of car do you drive?

The only demographic that might bail out this intrusive watch will be Asian buyers. Only problem is Apple forgot to translate the users manuals into Chinese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai, Japaneses, Korean and other major Asian languages.

The Asians have a child like fascination for electronic gadgets and this sub-par Dick Tracey watch fills the bill

Asian gangsters will also be buying this Apple watch for a status symbol. The Yakukza will be buying them by the boatload for themselves and as gifts to hack politicians they bought off

I don’t care about your time. I care that so many like you, having allegedly no interest in these subjects, descend on these threads in droves with the apparent goal of ruining the enjoyment of others.

You hated Apple long before that. So your credibility is gone.

You have me confused with someone else. I have been an Apple fan for as long as I can remember. Over the last couple of decades, I have constantly compared the crap that IBM and Microsoft produced to the elegance and functionality of an Apple machine. Back when Apples used the 68000 microprocessor, I constantly pointed out that it was a "true" sixteen bit processor instead of that serial half kludge the 8088 based stuff.

Their software was superior, it wasn't full of patches and bugs the way Windows is. In every conceivable way, the Apple product was better than the competition.

As a matter of fact, I still think their products and engineering are superior to their competition.

But their politics are just utterly wrong, and it is for those that they need to be brought to an account.

Homosexuality is a sexual sin, as are the sexual sins that heterosexuals commit ... and ... the Bible condemns them all as sins.

And upon how many of these other sins does God rain down fire from Heaven and burn entire cities alive?

For me, it is an indication of how strongly he feels about this particular sin.

So YOU (who does not want an Apple Watch) can divine the reason why we buyers of Apple products buy those products but we folks who actually buy those products don’t have a clue and incorrectly think we’re buying them for their technical utility?

I assume you are familiar with Nuclear Fission? It is not possible to say with any degree of certainty when a particular atom will spontaneously decay, but a statistical analysis is pretty D@mned good at predicting what the group of them will do. :)

Gay-ness is the big disqualifier. Laser-focus on it!

Because if you're really trying to stamp out homosexuals, you can't be too careful. You must avoid Apple.

I'm actually more worried about the Fascism aspect of this than I am the Gay aspect, although it is now appearing that the one thing will inevitably lead to the other. You do know the Nazis started out as a homosexual organization too?

No, what Tim Cook did, and what Mozilla did when they fired Brendan Eich, was to make the rest of us acutely aware that there will be no tolerance of differing opinions in an America run by a Gaystapo. There will be no consideration for religious beliefs or any other beliefs that do not accept the march of the "gay" agenda.

Oh, I see. Now we have to do a “reparation” program to all those Jews because of one man who historically supported the Nazi’s back IN THE 30’s with his own money before anyone knew of the camps, let alone the atrocities of Hitler. How ignorant are you who doesn’t realize it was Edsel who ran Ford from 1932 until 1943 until he was diagnosed with cancer. He alone was responsible for the “Arsenal of Democracy” program (1 B-24 per hour) during WWII. By the time Henry “took control” over Ford again, he was a dinosaur figure with absolutely no authority over daily activities at the plants.

I get what you’re saying, though. We should require a “Jew Tax” on every Ford produced in the past 70 years because one man who was politically motivated in the 30’s without control of Ford made bad decisions under a cloud of dementia.

Sounds an awful lot like Sharpton, Jackson, and Obama. I still don’t know what this has to do with ANY car or truck Ford made between 1945 and 2015. But please, enlighten us “neophytes” as to what you’re talking about.

I haven’t seen anyone here, on the list of 700+ Freepers on the Apple Ping List support the gay lifestyle or support any gay agenda ...

I never thought there would be a great deal of support for the Homosexual agenda amongst the Apple products fans of Free Republic. Apple products are very well made products, and I do not fault anyone for wanting the best.

while at the very same time as that ... They do like and buy Apple products, as do I. That will continue.

I just like to point out that the Germans made very good products too. Nobody could beat Zeiss Optics. Other German manufactures produced superior and excellent products as well.

But I think that is beside the point. I think each of us must do what they feel comfortable with. For me, anything Apple, or Google, or Starbucks, or Mozilla, has acquired a taint to it. As you have pointed out, It's getting virtually impossible to buy products that don't have this taint.

If you have found a way to accept this, then I congratulate you. You will likely have an easier time with the future than will I.

I care that so many like you, having allegedly no interest in these subjects, descend on these threads in droves with the apparent goal of ruining the enjoyment of others.

So basically, if an article presents reasons to buy the watch, the people who don't want one should step back and let the people who do want one enjoy agreeing with the article.

If the article presents reasons to not buy it, the people who don't want one should step back and let the people who do want one enjoy disagreeng with the article.

That about right?

Sometimes. They didn't have any luck in the server market because data center manager wouldn't pay extra for pretty boxes that were going to get racked up in dark glass rooms where nobody could see them.

I can see that. I would suppose the best characteristic of a server would be cost and reliability as well as ease of configuration. Bells and Whistles are not needed.

I did say this also ... :-) ...

— — —

HOWEVER, homosexuality is a special one, as far as the Bible is concerned in that the condition or desire or action of homosexuality is “a judgement” from God.

Many people think homosexuality is simply a sin and it then deserves judgement, as a result of that sin ... but no ... the Bible describes a PRIOR SIN and that “being a homosexual” is the “resulting judgement” from God for that prior sin. In other words, homosexuality is the “end result” of that judgement from God.

— — —

That’s pretty special.

You have it BACKWARDS.

A watch is supposed to tell time as the PRIMARY goal. A “watch” that doesn’t tell time as it’s primary goal is not a watch.

Don’t call it a watch when telling time is 1,927 on the list of whatever crap it’s supposed to do. Let me guess, you’re going to attempt to convince us a TV isn’t to be watched, a phone shouldn’t have any kind of speaker or microphone, a coffee pot isn’t supposed to brew coffee, a shirt isn’t supposed to be worn, and a car isn’t supposed to be driven.

What dribble nonsense you continue to spew here.

Go back to your hole of “imperial progressive thought” you came out of. A liberal pinko marxist web site might be better suited to your palate.

Reliability is definitely at the top of the list. Ease of maintenance I think counts for more than ease of configuration. Can you hot-swap a failed power supply or hard drive, or add memory or procs without having to uncable it and take it completely out of the rack.

Interesting. One of the folks in the 2007 thread dismissing the newfangled iPhone said his Palm was much better. Haven’t seen a Palm recently...I wonder how many of the Apple hater brigade secretly are hoping their Palm Pilots will be making a comeback?
