The Apple Watch Is Neat, But That Is All
Business Day Live ^ | April 23 2015, 12:42 UTC | Jeffrey Joslin

PEOPLE have been raving about the Apple Watch, so it is probably time for a rant from a devil’s advocate.

For starters, Apple’s smartwatch is neat, but that might be the only thing it has going for it. If the product’s intended function is providing you with around-the-clock health information, then there are a lot of roadblocks that need to be addressed.

Here are five: (...) 1. Battery life is as terrible as you would expect. 2. Too little screen for too much information. 3. It is too big. 4. Even the positive reviews are negative. 5. The Apple Watch could still fail. (...)

I care that so many like you, having allegedly no interest in these subjects, descend on these threads in droves with the apparent goal of ruining the enjoyment of others.

Just for you, once again, I have an interest in this "subject". I simply no longer have an interest in all the latest whizbang tech stuff as I once did.

So you have the correct data to work with, my specific interest here is so many are feeling as I do. Namely these endless tech gadgets no longer have the appeal they once did. For me anyway.

Is that OK with you? Is this approved by the in-house homeowner's poster's association?

I accept that it’s a fallen world that we live in and that a Christian will not be able to change that fallen world, except by spreading the Gospel of Salvation to everyone that they come across. The more that are saved means the better this fallen world will be, as those saved ones will act out in the real world, their salvation.

But in the end, there is no changing this fallen world, by Christians. That is something that only the Messiah of Israel does, when he returns to earth and sets up his one-world government over all the nations of the world.

Here’s a relevant parable that Jesus gave ...

Matthew 13

24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;

25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.

26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.

27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’

28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’

29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” ‘ “

— — —

When the Angels come, who are the reapers, then the problem will be solved.

I'm actually more worried about the Fascism aspect of this than I am the Gay aspect, although it is now appearing that the one thing will inevitably lead to the other. You do know the Nazis started out as a homosexual organization too?

I know about the Nazis, and I agree.

My point is that homosexuals are everywhere; we're not going to stop them, it's too late. But we'd best demand honesty of them, and practice it ourselves.

William Roper: So, now you give the Devil the benefit of law!

Sir Thomas More: Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?

William Roper: Yes, I'd cut down every law in England to do that!

Sir Thomas More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned 'round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man's laws, not God's! And if you cut them down, and you're just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake!

What will this reveal to you? What’s your slant on this?

Just curious.

You use a PC, right?

And, did you build your house, or buy it from someone?

Nobody said the Watch was a phone. Good job starting your retort off with a non sequitur.

I’m a heart patient. I’m alive because a computer and mechanical valve keep my heart functioning. Damn straight the Watch’s biometrics will be useful. I’m quite interested in detailed continuing heart monitoring.

If I wanted a watch that just told time (inaccurately at that) I’d stick to my $500 Movado.

Taking a watch off and putting it in a safe place daily isn’t a problem. I never slept with a watch when I did wear one.

If taking off a watch daily is too much for you, then yes the Apple Watch is not for you. Don’t get one. Leave such sophistication to someone who can handle it.

IIRC, you said you were going to upgrade one of your apps to work with the watch. Did you get that done yet?

I’m just baffled that you’d spend so much time telling others how useless a product is, to an audience who thinks it is useful. You’re like a devout atheist who reads magazines and writes articles and attends conventions all about how God doesn’t exist; pathologically pointless.

Are any of the people involved in the design or manufacture of your mechanical heart valve homosexuals?

I'm only asking because this guy is obsessed with the question.

Did you have the doctors and nurses checked? Were any of them gay?

What? It should be a phone at that price.

Wait, it requires a phone anyway, so it is a phone extension. It doesn’t tell time very well since you have to wave your hand around like an idiot to tell time. But it does a lot of other useless crap, so enjoy.

If you need continuous biometrics, you should be in ICU. Are you a stooge who wants to sit there obsessing with your vitals? I’ve had two bypasses with stints and I don’t give a crap what my pulse is every second.

Enjoy life without the all the distractions. Movado “watches” (the first Apple watch) are crap. Stick with Tag Heuer, Breitling, Rado, and Rolex. Hell, a $50 Timex tells time pretty damned good. Check your pulse when you need to. A decent watch will time it to the nearest second.

Ask Mr. Cook from “Apple”. He knows all about your butt-hugging, queer laced army who goes after little pizzerias in small towns in the Midwest...like oh say Indiana.

It’s on the schedule. That we have higher priorities at the moment doesn’t demean the Watch’s usefulness.

I have been researching homosexuality since the early 1990s. "Honesty" is not a word I would use to describe them or their behavior. I am currently of the opinion that they will not stop. They will keep pushing the envelope until they are forcing other people to engage in homosexual activity to prove they aren't "Haters."

They will keep pushing for a lowering of the legal age of consent, because all throughout history, homosexuals actually prefer young boys. That is who they are actually attracted to, but they dare not say so ... yet.

Some admit it, but most do not.

I see them as a threat. They will not leave us alone. They will keep demanding concessions until they are confronted.

That’s pretty special.

For some reason I am not grasping your point here. Perhaps you can explain it in a different way?

You said ... “My point is that homosexuals are everywhere; we’re not going to stop them, it’s too late.”

— — —

The LGBT group is a mere 3.8% of the U.S. population. The problem is that many heterosexuals “cover” their own SEXUAL IMMORALITY by supporting the LGBTs. They know that to say that the LGBT Sexual Immorality is “bad” ... while their own heterosexual immorality is “okay” ... is TOTAL HYPOCRISY. That’s why you’ve got so many heterosexuals covering for the homosexuals ... they don’t want the finger pointing back at themselves!

Now, if you get the heterosexual community to stand up against HETEROSEXUAL IMMORALITY ... across the board ... then we could absolutely squash the homosexual agenda. The problem is not with the 3.8% ... but the problem is with the Heterosexuals!

Reliability is definitely at the top of the list. Ease of maintenance I think counts for more than ease of configuration. Can you hot-swap a failed power supply or hard drive, or add memory or procs without having to uncable it and take it completely out of the rack.

Makes sense to me. I have friends that run server farms, but I never did any of that myself.
