Methanol is poison, that's correct. The foundation of toxicology says “everything is toxic.” However, the dose is paramount. Toxic and poison are meaningless words without a specific dose for that substance. It is the dose alone that separates a food or drug from being a poison.

Every time you drink apple juice, tomato juice, cider, beer, wine, or most liquor, you are consuming methanol. Fortunately, it's in small enough amounts that it is easily cleared by the liver. You eat foods and drink beverages every day that contain dangerous chemicals, but not in the quantities that are harmful. The dose makes the poison. Same as it ever was.
