Insurance and Kiowa the Dog

Posted on 05/03/2015 7:50:36 AM PDT by waterhill

Insurance lady asked me what kind of dog do I have.... I said half red heeler half lab and she is a good dog. She asked me how big she was (she is 80 lbs, but I said none of your business) I am getting upset at this point. I told her that if ever Ki was to get out of control that I would 'fix' it. I am not above certain things. I just don't like noses being stuck up my ass. I live on the family ranch and I have to have big dogs. This is just pissing me off.

State Farm does not give one red rat’s ass what kind of dog you have.

Switch.

We did.

Your House Insurance? for Liability?

I have a heeler too, I get comments from some poeple that hate dogs that it is the 4th most likely dog to attack a human. But they don’t take into account that the heeler is just trying to herd people and nipping at your heels is natural for these dogs, they don’t do it to hurt.

They do fiercely protect you and your property, but that’s why you have a dog.

Did they deny you insurance or are they simply charging more for owners of dogs that have a stereotype history of violence? Charging owners of pit bulls more because of the dog, seems reasonable as the risk is higher.

Our insurance company tried to give up some flak about our German Shepherds and Rottweiler.I told them that there were other insurance companies out there and that ended the discussion.

I am talking to another insurance company. They are apparently dog friendly.

They wanted to raise my rate because they are large and dangerous. My dogs save the calves and cats and sometimes me from preds. I am disgusted and pissed off. They are coming after me next for my firearms it seems.

We had Erie for a very long time.

When hubby mentioned the dogs, they didn’t flip out but they did look “concerned”.

So, we checked around.

A week later, *everything* was switched to State Farm.

Look at me funny, will ya.

:D

Dogs are, historically, the first line of defense.

They raise the alarm before any human sees an evil doer coming.

No dogs, no warning.

Consider that in light of all the LEO/dog shootings.

...or Muzzies.

I just changed homeowners coverage and I was asked a number of questions including whether I owned a dog. I suppose the agents have to ask now in view of all the idiot pit bull owners who let their dogs loose on everyone else. Anything in your home that could cause injury or damage for which the insurance company could be liable — these insurers want to know. They might have to set a higher premium or they might refuse coverage altogether.

A tip — rather than going to an agent for one insurance company, consider an independent. Independents represent more than one insurance company, so they can shop for the right coverage at the best price. My former carrier had jacked up my premium. My new insurance will be $300 less.

Insurance companies are nearly as big a threat to liberty as the government.

It is THEIR insurance company. Their property. Find another one or start your own.

Good grief, we have turned in to such a nation of complainers.

They can go smoke a pole if they want. Just warning my peeps as to who they really are. I am just creating an awareness. Take it or piss off, up to you.
