In her autobiography, she makes mention of a Star Trek "executive" who raped her.

Knowing what I do about Roddenberry's "casting couch", my suspicion is that it was Roddenberry himself.

She never named the executive, because that wouldn't make Star Trek's brass look so hot.

If you’re making a public accusation of rape, you’re beyond giving a sh&% about their public image.

I’d be surprised. Roddenberry did have affairs with Nichelle Nichols and Majel Barrett (whom later became his wife), but rape seems far-fetched. Plus, if he did, it’s highly unlikely she’d have ever chosen to return to the franchise (beginning with the films) which he’d be prominently involved with.

Wow. That is depressingly sad to know that happened to her. The hypocrisy is that the execs of Star Trek wrote/signed off on those episodes that pontificated each week about morals under the guise of a sci-fi script, and one of their own rapes an attractive actress on the show.

Sick.

I remember she also said she had a drinking problem, probably a result of being raped.

Over the years, as I’ve viewed other items that Roddenberry wrote or produced (including his earlier series “The Lieutenant”), prior to Trek, I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a single one in which female characters are particularly well presented. He seemed to write them all as rather two-dimensional entities, as either airheads or sexpots.

Sounds like she may have had an abortion. The depression and drugs usually follow pretty closely and Hollywierd was very famous for their little clinics for actresses.
