Wal-Mart issued a statement Monday to TPM dismissing "rumors" that tunnels were being built by the U.S. military beneath closed stores in an attempt to launch a takeover of Texas.
"There’s no truth to the rumors," Wal-Mart spokesperson Lorenzo Lopez told TPM via email.
The tunnels are part of a series of conspiracy theories surrounding "Jade Helm 15," a military training operation set to take place later this year in seven Western states. The conspiracy theorists have said the operation may be part of a covert attempt to takeover Texas and other states.
In response to the theories, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) last week issued an order for the state guard to monitor the U.S. military — a decision he defended on Monday.
Theorists have suggested that five Wal-Mart retail locations were shuttered abruptly because of Jade Helm 15. They have suggested that the closed stores, one of which is located in Texas, will serve as "food distribution centers" and will be used to "house the headquarters of invading troops from China, here to disarm Americans one by one."
Another theory suggested that there was already a system of underground tunnels below the closed Wal-Marts.
The worst part about digging tunnels for Wal-Mart is working in pajama bottoms and flip flops.

According to a friend who is into conspiracies, the tunnels are in the Ozark hills of Mo and AR. Right under the Dicky Bub convenience store.
possible. Gore is an emotion based animal. Good chance he would react quickly and aggressively to satisfy that feeling and also look tough to the rest of the world. He was never a panzy obama type bowing to foreigners. plus if you watch how he talks on climate change and other issues, he does get very angry. I hate the guy, but Bush’s response was horrible in retrospect. and Obama more than compounded those issues. We are nearing societal collapse worldwide. 9/11 was the pivot - and a failed response the trigger.

My post, by the way, was not in response to the article (which I didn't read in any case because "rumors of tunnels being built to take over Texas" means it's probably an article worth ignoring), but my post WAS ONLY in response to circlecity's comment:
While the conspiracy theorists are working overtime, that doesn’t change the fact this Jade Helm 15 exercise is worthy of suspicion.
So ... what was I trying to "prove" using this article as "a base"? Any explanation you present will be silly because YOU MADE A WHOLE BUNCH OF WRONG, STUPID ASSUMPTIONS in your defensiveness, and wrote gobblydigook instead of sense.
I stand by my observation made over the years that your capacity for poor understanding and/or careless miscommunication is impossible to overestimate.
The Texas State Guard is there to direct traffic during maneuvers and offer minor medical assistance or advice if any of the participants are bitten by fire ants, killer bees, snakes, or pit bulls while crossing private property in our neighborhoods in search of Christian terrorists.
Anyone suffering gunshot wounds or impaled by wrought iron fences or barbed wire will be directed to the nearest ER. If time permits, they will post warning signs on abandoned cars, open septic systems, tunnels, poisonous plants, and other hazards hidden in the overgrown lawns of some of our homeowners.
The State Guard will NOT provide interpreters at this time, so it is advised all participants be fluent in several languages. They should be familiar with the main languages of Texas: Engles, Spanish, Tex-Mex, and be able to discern the various dialects (ex: Foat Wuth = Forth Worth) in order to communicate with the locals.
Greg Abbott, Senator Cruz, and the concerned citizens of Texas want their stay to be as pleasant as possible.

I just wanted to point out the hugh error in the article:
2 of the 5 closed Walmarts are in Texas!! One in Denton, one in Livingston.
I thought one was in Midland also. This local news report.(Not some blog) says so.
