You are so right. When my wife was pregnant with our first child we were shopping for a stroller. An elderly lady asked my wife when she was due and if we knew the sex of the baby. My wife told her we were expecting a girl in two weeks. The lady said good luck, and was on her way. Later when we went to check out the cashier gave us two extra bags and told us that an old lady bought this for our baby. In the bag were a few outfits for the baby, a rattle, and a note. The note said ‘When I was young and pregnant a stranger bought my child some gifts and I cried because I was hurting for money. I am now passing on the gift to you. Don't worry about paying me back, just remember me when you are older and see a pregnant girl. Help her out and you will have repaid me in full. GOD bless.’

Years later one om my female grad students came to me crying because she was pregnant and she wanted my advice. We talked for hours and I was able to calm her down, and I helped her to realize that everything would be ok. The next day I gave her some gifts for her baby, telling her to repay me by helping some pregnant girl out when she was older. I have passed the gift on, I have repaid my debt. I can not tell you how much joy that gift to her gave me. It gives me great happiness every time I can repay that gift. I have no doubt that one day my grad student will repay me by helping some young pregnant girl. Hopefully the gift will be passed on for generations bringing joy too many. It all started with just one act of kindness that I shall never forget.

Wonderful story.

The closest thing to it I think I ever experienced was at the drive through at Taco Bell in Hobbs, NM. After working from 4 am to 11pm, I needed something to eat. It was a really awful day on the railroad... and when I pulled up to the window the guy that I had waved into the lot ahead of me had paid for my one meal of the day. I would have passed it on to the person behind me, but there was nobody else... so I have done that at Dunkin Donut drive throughs when people are hetting their morning coffee.

Unknowingly fulfilled a need. The comp was obviously intentional.

I paid for my education at McD. Ray Kroc and the McD brothers are spinning on a spit seeing what goes on now.

Well, then your Chick-fila is the only one empty, or you must be looking on Sunday.

Nahhh, my problem is more subtle. My local Chick-fil-A simply doesn’t exist. Store, lot, belly empty...

If anyone decides to open a Chick-fil-A in Reno/Sparks I want to invest in it!
