First, and I know trolls say this but, I am a HUGE Ted Cruz supporter. The wife and I have already donated a substantial sum to his campaign and will continue to do so.
Having said that, I just went to his "official" store to pick up some bumper stickers. One of the requirements is to list your employer. I'm sorry but that's none of their d*mned business. I replied to the email to that effect as well.
Maybe I'm being too sensitive about it but my opinion is if you want to show your support you needn't have to sacrifice your privacy to do so.
That is funny!
Fec disclosure needed if contributing. $200 or more. Give $199 and refuse to provide other info.
I went there and bought some stuff. For employer, I put “None” and the order went through.
You’ll show up on the FEC reports anyway, so what’s the biggie?
“If you have donated to Cruz before, as you claim, how come you never noticed this before?”
Because when I dontated before “as I claimed” I donated myself and didn’t worry about the employer as I have none. When I tried to purchase the bumper stickers I was doing so under my wife’s name and considered it a “purchase” not a donation.
Not everyone that posts something is a troll. If I was trying to disparage someone I’d pick something a little more caustic than asking for an employer.
The sad part nowadays is that whenever I see a photo of a fetching young woman like that the first thought to cross my mind is “she’s probably about my daughter’s age”.
I’d hit it as I’m sure Laz would.
What’s up with Vandelay? I am probably missing some secret joke.
Or write “Part of the 47%” :-D
Re: “First, and I know trolls say this but, I am a HUGE Ted Cruz supporter. The wife and I have already donated a substantial sum to his campaign.”
Unless the law has changed recently, you are required to list your employer if you donate to a candidate.
Did you and the wife refuse to do that when you contributed your substantial sum?
Seinfeld reference. An episode where George applies for a job with a fake resume, on which he has listed the non-existent Vandelay Industries as his prior employer. He lists Jerry’s phone number as the company contact, and asks Jerry to answer his phone “Vandelay Industries” and give a fake reference for him.
“Did you and the wife refuse to do that when you contributed your substantial sum?”
And this, Ladies and Gentlemen, is why I post so infrequently. No matter what you post at least one or two individuals are going to call you a liar.
I considered buying stickers as a “purchase” not a donation. Yes I put “retired” when I “donated” instead of an employer. I can’t speak for my wife but assume she did put her employer.
I will now go back to lurking and refrain from responding to such insipid comments.
“I considered buying stickers as a purchase not a donation.”
That’s what I say.

One or two out of 200k to 300k Freepers isn’t bad odds
at all. I’d say if it’s just one or two per post then don’t
worry. Besides look what you did. I went to the Ted Cruz store
and look what I found,
“Donate $10 to Cruz for President and reserve your Right Turns Only Bumper Sticker! Due to demand please allow extra time for delivery. Made in USA.”
It seems that you were not buying a bumper sticker but getting
booty from a donation.
Any time a website asks something that’s none of their business, just make something up. If they ask your employer, just list “MYOB, Inc”, or if a liberal site, say “FU4Ever.com”.
If you’re getting merchandise for your money, how could it be viewed as a contribution?
And he’s not contributing, he’s purchasing merchandise that would have value to him.

to such insipid comments.

Keep responding and providing your input. Just don’t respond to
comments that you choose to ignore. Responding is your choice not theirs.
Re: “I considered buying stickers as a purchase not a donation.”
I did not call you a liar, and my comment is not “insipid.”
I simply don’t understand why you thought revealing your employer for a political donation was no big deal, but revealing your employer for a political “purchase” was a huge deal worth posting about.
