Not necessarily. My freshmen year of hs I had a terrible time with algebra. And I was excellent at basic math. So I got cs and ds in algebra.
Almost thirty years later, with no algebra instruction in between, I took an algebra class in college. To bone up on my algebra skills I bought an elementary algebra primer. These were the same problems that confounded me as a 13 yr old hs freshmen. Yet as a 41 yr old college student they seemed ridiculously easy.
Moral of story: some young skulls full of mush (like mine) need a little maturity.
Absolutely, but on a smaller scale.
It neither gets as bad nor does as much damage.
1) They **WILL** learn to think and reason godlessly. The must just to cooperate in the godless classroom. How could it be otherwise?
2) They risk learning to be comfortable with single-payer socialism! Gee! If the voting mob can give them tuition-free schooling, why not use that voting mob to get **lots** of “free” stuff?
( Yes, I am shouting, jumping up and down, and having a fit.)
The vast majority of teachers are liberals. Liberals are human garbage whether they are ones family, teachers, cops pols or anything else.
Teaching as a profession recruits liberals because it is the most direct way to corrupt a country. Thats why the communists listed exactly that in the 1936 Communist goals.
Even if districts were as small as a city block or suburban housing tract, government schools would still be a First Amendment and freedom of conscience abomination!
Why?
Reason: Because it is impossible to provide any child with a religiously, culturally, and politically neutral education! It is impossible! It is axiomatic!
Even in the smallest districts, the most powerful political faction gets to impose its NON-neutral religious, political, and cultural worldview on other people's children by threat of police action, and ( also by police threat) forces their neighbor to pay for it.
The next time you meet Mrs. Honey Bun, the 3rd grade teacher at the local school and also the children's bell choir director at church, remember! She is a LIAR who HURTS kids and is working daily to destroy freedom.
When I meet a government teacher I am reminded of the movie, “Gremlins”. They seem so sweet on the outside, but inside they are LIARS who HURT kids and are destroying our nation. They do it for money.
But...I agree. It would be better to have local control but ideally it is best to constantly work toward complete separation of school and state.
Every article on education seems to focus on math. I would be more concerned that students can READ and COMPREHEND the written word. People with a math aptitude will succeed regardless of school or teachers because it is how their brain works. If children can read with comprehension the world is opened up to them. The can read about history, science etc. We worry so much about every student passing Algebra 2 but are not concerned about their ability to read.
Some parents are just too darn stupid to even begin to take responsibility for their children’s education. That just won’t work.
Education is all about, pardon my French, developing a BS-Meter, so they can decide on what the truth is rather than relying on those who would deliberately mislead them.
I don't get it either. I see it on every school thread. It's like a Greek Chorus.
“Local Control; Local Control; Local Control; Local Control; Local Control; Local Control; Local Control; Local Control; Local Control; Local Control; “
Teacher pass them on so they don’t get stuck with the kids next year. That practice has been going on caveman times.
Teachers’ unions are to be blamed for parent(s) who don’t give a damn? Especially the millions of Mom-only households. Most of their kids are failing at everything, not just schoolwork.
It is amazing. Parents are too stupid to take responsibility for their children's education but their 12 year old is responsible to find a safe abortion on her own.
Where is the proof that schools do any good whatsoever? Really. This is a serious question.
When kids do poorly on standardized tests, its the parent's fault. It seems schools can't teach kids who have poor parenting so why go to all that taxpayer expense and effort to send kids to school if the school can't teach kids with poor parenting?
So....If they didn't go to school would they do worse? I don't think so.
Why are we spending up to $30,000 a year per child on school programs that the teachers, themselves, admit are completely ineffective? That is $390,000 for 13 years ( or more) of institutionalization for children that the teachers, themselves, plainly state that they can not teach!!!
( Just wondering)
Absolutely correct. When the POLITICIANS suddenly woke up and discovered a giant cash cow in EDU-BIZ and the hedge funders got a sniff of a new profit market, EDU-BIZ was born. Educational publishing companies such as Pearson have made billions now on new tests, evaluations, Commie Core Crap, etc. Teachers did not want to promote students who had not mastered the work, but a never-ending torrent of threats by administration forced them to do so. Teachers also have mortgages, families to feed, etc. They can't afford to lose their jobs.
So?....Teachers LIE to the child which is malpractice that HURTS the child. They lie to the parent , and the taxpayer. They do it for money. No one is holding a gun to their heads.
The rest of America manages to find work to pay their mortgages and feed their families without lying and hurting kids. Teachers aren't special they could, too.
For me, I basically had a ‘light bulb’ moment about halfway through algebra I. The entire subject wasn’t making any sense at all, then **poof**, like a switch being thrown, I suddenly ‘got’ it, and it was all easy after that.
You obviously have a bug up your a@@ about teachers. You continuously are making statements here based on nothing more than very thin propaganda and your own personal anti-teacher bigotry. You are painting all teachers with a broad and hugely inaccurate brush. You make accusations which are totally unsupportable. And your statements sound like they come from someone who just ain’t quite right in the head. Quote me all the stats about your “wonderful” kids (if you even have any) that you want, but your main premises are nothing more than hate speech against teachers, without anything to back it up. Any further dittos of your hateful and vastly inaccurate statements are yadda-yadda-yadda to me. I am on the INSIDE, I know what goes on in classrooms, I know the virulent influence politicians have had on education for the past decade. I don’t have to guess and base my opinions on propagandist films and personal vendettas. So flame away. It’s hard to know which end of you is spewing, since it’s much the same product.
