I don’t get the single speed bike. This has become cool, but why?
I am leaning towards going back to a 3 speed, with an upright stance. But a heavy single speed, no way.
It's retro and minimalist. I have one I use for occasional bombing around, and it's a different kind of fun. You can spend more time enjoying the ride without the distraction of shifting gears. As long as you stay away from huge hills, it's fine.
Mine is a 60cm 1980 Schwinn World Traveler frame (used to be a 3-speed) with a leather saddle, comfort bars, and no fenders.
I have a fancy new mountain bike.
I actually reduced my speeds to ten from twenty.
Life is way simpler now, but I don’t mean that in a hipster doosh way.
