It’s not a good system at all. Here’s why. State A provides a golden toilet for every resident. No other state provides the golden toilet. Nor does the federal regime. Now the state goes bankrupt due to this idiocy.

Who bails out the state for its retarded choices and tawdry benefits? That’s right. It’s you and me. We’re stuck wiping the butts of these liberal/libertarian/socialist havens.

It’s gonna suck even more for all the other states who are forced to bail their butts out after Single-Titanic-PayerCare sinks to the bottom of the Atlantic.

That’s $4600/resident. Where in the hell do they think my wife and I have an extra $9200 lying around, just for starters?

Maybe a 10,000% tax on pot would do it for them. As if working Americans in CO
have unlimited cash just laying around and don't need their paychecks.

25-Billion in new taxes?
2014 population 5,355,866
2014 Employed 2,754,600

Do your numbers account for only 2,754,600 working?

Yes. Bronze plan covers all residents and their families not on Medicare/Medicare. Assume everyone on the exchange in that cost including Medicare/Medicaid. Cost is per resident. Big families would pay less. Single working stiffs would pay the most. Retirees who already paid form their damned Medicare are right behind them.

This bill covers ALL residents.

And I will add that the taxes burden will obviously screw corporations and high income earners the most as this would be based on the existing income tax system.

Only if you happen to live in the idiot state. If you’re smart you got out of there a long time ago.

I was born here. Probably die here. The state has only become more moonbatty in the past 10 years or so. This was an FDR democrat state for decades. By the 80’s things started swinging more libertarian. That’s when I left Denver, and eventually wound up in the ultra conservative El Paso county area.

The recent recalls and other initiatives give me hope for the future. We’ll see.

I’m sure Colorado is like a lot of states when one big urban area (Denver-Boulder) dictate the politics and it’s usual liberal (Oregon has Portland, Washington Seattle and California the Bay Area and LA). I’m sure like rural California, where you live is conservative.

I wish you well and hope sanity returns.

Colorado has approximately 5 million citizens, 3 million of which pay income tax.

When you divide 25 billion by 3 million, it shows that EACH taxpayer would have to pay an additional $8,000.00 per year - to start with, because there are provisions to INCREASE this additional tax in subsequent years!

Be interesting to see if the potheads can get this on the ballot. Probably can: paid signature collectors stand in front of the grocery stores and lie through their teeth about what they are collecting signatures for. They’ll probably say something like: “Would you like to sign a petition for free medical care in Colorado?”

It won’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of passing though with a ballot title that starts with: “STATE TAXES SHALL BE INCREASED $25 BILLION ANNUALLY IN THE FIRST FULL FISCAL YEAR ...”

Do they intentionally release this in ALL CAPS to discourage people from reading it?

I read about this recently. I can’t believe it would get anything other than token support.
