Just curious - the father bought the gun and gave it to his troubled son, who already had a criminal record. So the gun may have been legally acquired, but illegally transferred. And the church was a "gun-free" zone? I'm not sure of the specifics and have no knowledge of the law in South Carolina but would love to see a tally of all the existing laws that were thwarted.
they did not buy him a gun
they gave him birthday money and he went out and bought it
the family did not know it, and never said that, the media did
he had been taking all manner of stuff that would wack out your head... and the flags on the jacket look suspicious... though might not be... such patches are often very stiff, and so may not bend until worn for a while...
regardless, the patches dont mean anything..
with or without them the same is the end.
As soon as I posted this I saw news reports that he bought the gun himself.
He certainly fits the profile - drugs, loner, wierdo, with a soft target. Glad he’s caught. Prayers to those involved.
Agreed, and I’m noticing that as well: even if he double-tapped every target, that would be 18 rounds.
Working threat stream is, this was a targeted hit along the same vein as the judge who was killed when Gabby Giffords was shot. Judge dead, Giffords martyred - a twofer for the Left.
And now? We have a martyred preacher/politican, with financial ties to Sharpton’s mercenaries, who was involved in firings of local and state election workers recently. Anyone’s guess as to motive...
Good questions, those.

He had a .45, with at least seven rounds in the magazine, and reloaded five times, totaling 35 shots, at a minimum.”
That has bothered me as well. I also would like to know since he reloaded 5 times and no news reports ever have mentioned multiple magazines why no one rushed him while he was feeding cartridges one at a time into a magazine.
That's what stopped Colin Ferguson in the Long Island Train shooting. Passengers rushed him when went to reload.
Concur .....are we sure it was a 1911 series handgun with a single stack or a piece of combat Tupperware with 10 to 13 rounds per staggered mag ???
This kid has a handler IMHO...... Interesting points Sarge / Archy.
No, not at all. Another [AP] story I ran down offers the recollection of a pal who moved a backpack belonging to the shooter and who was told to *be careful of the magazines* at which point he thought printed treeware publications, not ammunition-holding type magazines. He identified the handgun involved as a Glock, which, if in .45, could be either a Glock 21, with a 13-round magazine, a Glock 30, with ten rounds capacity, or the Glock 36 *hideout .45* with a six-round magazine.
The Glock 30 and 21 have extended capacity mags that hold 27 rounds available, though I never had one for the Glock 30 that lived with me for a while in Memphis. The thing didn't fit my hand right, and I've not cared much for the 36, either. But they now have the *30S* with a little different feel, so possibly I'll give one of them a try eventually. The only Glock I have to my name at present is a old second-generation Model 17, made before the checkered and grooved *improved* plastic grips of the Gen 3. But it works, and works and works. It's as boring as a Kalishnikov.
Washington Post says Glock *here*
Nope. The drugs were prescription drugs, not illegal/*street* drugs.
And, per the AP story *here*,the tresspassing charges were misdemeanors, not felonies that would have disqualified Roof from firearms purchases under the GCA 1968 and 18/922:
State court records for Roof as an adult show a misdemeanor drug case from March that was pending against him and a misdemeanor trespassing charge from April. Authorities had no immediate details. As for any earlier offenses, juvenile records are generally sealed in South Carolina.
I guess those gun laws are not "responsible". Responsible gun laws are more like "No Guns"
I had a buyer yesterday disqualified for a misdemeanor. Misuse of a prescription drug is illegal drug use.
Yep.....
