Favorite Female vocalists ?
today | Me

Posted on 06/19/2015 5:55:09 PM PDT by Zeneta

While I have a handful or more favorites, I am curious who my fellow freepers elevate to the top of their list?

My list starts with;

Annie Lennox

Kate Bush

Tracey Thorn (Everything but the Girl)

And oddly enough

Cindi Lauper

There's soo many more.

Dolly Parton is right up there.

Marilyn McCoo one of my first schoolboy crushes.

Her and Billy Davis still married after all these years, nice to see at least one showbiz marriage that works out.

“Agnetha and Anni-Frid.”

Agnetha is 65, Frida is 70.

For a while I was tuning in 24/7 to waterlooradio.net.

Frida, I am Woman:

Connie Smith and that makes me think of...

Connie Francis, so many singers, some are missed.

I really like Connie Francis’ “Where the boys are”. She has a number.

And yes, I am aware of Connie Smith’s songs too. “Cincinatti Ohio” is very good.

Oh, and I’m not sure if Petula Clark was mentioned, “Downtown” is a good song.

Post # 366; Leslie Gore, another fine singer, I have not seen mentioned that much. “Look of Love” is pretty darn good.

Agreed, but I sure did like Connie Frances.

My request, when I get to heaven I will sing like both of them. Another in the gospel group would be Vestal Goodman.

I know I am late to this thread, but just had to get my 2 cents in. lol

Use blond dye and you frop 5 IQ points immeadiately. I’ve seen it happen ;)

y picks:

Mentioned earlier but no one today touches Lizzy Hale for American Rock vocalist. Nobody.

Halestorm - Innocence

There is a French guy, James Kent, that has a synthwave project called “Perturbator”. He occasionally uses vocalists. This one features a girl named Isabella Govorsellic. Very ‘Cocteau Twins’ feeling

Perturbator - Hardwired

Another favorite in the poppy genre is Electric Youth. You may recognize them from the Movie “Drive”. Bronwyn Griffin. She puts most pop diva types to shame.

Spanky (McFarlane?) of Spanky and our gang, "Lazy Day", "Like to get to know you".

While I'm here, I'm looking at a list and here is one I didn't see, isn't she liberal, actually, a few famous names I have not seen here, Cher, yes, Bette Midler, another liberal I think. Chrissie Hinde of the Pretenders I like but just not among the greats.

Great seeing everyone's picks.

Lena Horne, another one I haven't seen mentioned.

ANNETTE HANSHAW, 1920s singer, I think she is the one first known as "America's Sweetheart", there are a few '20s and '30s singers I've heard, can't think of there names.

Ruth Etting, oh, she's another one from way way back.
