Enjoyed my years engaging in discussions on Free Republic, but I am done. Time to face reality.
Vanity

Posted on 06/23/2015 2:12:20 PM PDT by Codeflier

Please forgive the vanity...

Over the years, I have really enjoyed participating in Free Republic discussions on a great variety of topics. Even when there was strong disagreement, Free Republic brought me a sense of connection with others that always seemed to have a purpose.

Unfortunately, I now see clearly that it is over for the US. The constitution has no meaning and we are essentially under mob rule. There is no party to turn to and all the politicians are in collusion to game the system. I think we have reached a stage where this is all going to unravel economically and socially much faster than most people think.

Everything being pushed that most of us are against will come to fruition, with no chance of stopping it. I also realize that there will be no pushback, or moment of "hell no", despite all the brave talk of those behind keyboards. All the big talkers will eventually give up their first and second amendment rights with hardly a whimper.

I am basically going to disconnect, discontinue following politics, and quit voting. I refuse to be Charlie Brown with Lucy and the football any longer. I will now concentrate strictly on my own preparations with my family for when this all goes belly up. Honestly, at this point I would rather it all just go ahead and collapse sooner rather than later.

For my own sanity, I just need to tune it all out from now on.

Oh well. I choose to stay and aggravate people until they pry my iPad from my cold, dead, fingers.

Politics per se isn’t depressing; nor is FR. It’s spending too much time dwelling on politics while seated.
If you engaged in political life on your feet you would feel very differently.
But if you can’t do that, then by all means remove yourself. Without action it’s all just brooding and gloom.

Every web forum has a number of these (goodbye threads).

There are other web forums?

Interesting times we live in...

I hope to stay long enough to see the “american” commies-

progressives implode...

Would Love to See Cruz and or Walker

lead us out...With cheap energy there is no reason we cannot lead the world in manufacturing and exporting...

we might just surprise ourselves...

if not, then Jehovah God has a different plan.

Just remember this nation survived FDR. He did as much damage (maybe more) as the current resident.
This country is still the last best bastion of hope and freedom in the world.

Know what you mean. These words from Kipling’s “If” keep rolling through my mind:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

I check out more now than I once did. It has not done one shred of good to call a politician or much less vote. When you piss into the wind all you do is get wet.

In time, not to long from now, I’m going to check out and go to the farm to manage quietly as long as I can and enjoy as much of the time I have left as best I can. It’ll be up to the kids soon, it is their world, not mine any longer.

“We all feel that way sometimes but, we’re Americans and keep pressing on.

Take a break and see you around...”

After the election in 2012 I figured we were beyond the tipping point, and felt similar. After learning what the IRS did and about 3 years off of anything political (lots of Science Channel and lots of old rock-n-roll), I feel energized and ready for the fight again.
Stick around and help defeat Hillary. If we lose, I’m headed to the desert to start prepping also.

They got mirrors in Texas, don’t they. You just have to train them to look in the shined side.

****So other than calling people names what is your solution for people who feel like “it’s over”, “it’s done”?

What type of suggestion do you have to offer to millions of Americans who love their country but now see they have been sold down the river by the corruption in Wash DC?****

Don’t bother dude. humblegunner helps JimRob keep the blog pimps at bay, but other than that he’s useless.

In 1972 on my last trip back to the states, I was laying in the Naval Hospital at Kobi, Japan.
I was pretty beat up and felt like there was no reason to continue on, according to the news my war was lost.
The Catholic Chaplin did not have time for me, the Protestant Chaplin did not have time for me.
The Jewish Chaplin on the other hand took the time to tell me a little story.
The story was about a group of people who had been defeated in wars, humiliated, tortured, murdered, and even had attempts made upon them to eradicate them from the face of the earth (Armenian holocaust & Nazi holocaust) for the last 5000 years.
The Chaplin told me my duty and responsibility was to get well, then stand back up on my feet and keep fighting until the day I died.
That Chaplin was Captain Victor M. Solomon.
I never forgot his words and they have served me and my family well for the last 43 years.
He eventually retired as a full bird Colonel, last I heard he lives some where in the New York area. I AM AN AMERICAN MARINE. I WILL NEVER QUIT. I WILL NEVER SURRENDER. THE BATTLE IS NEVER OVER UNTIL THE LAST OF THE ENEMY IS DEAD AT YOUR FEET.

As someone said today. First the confederate flag is offensive, then what? Don’t tread on me? The U.S. Flag has been suggested as offensive to some so let’s get rid of it. How about “Live free or die.”? That could be offensive. And on and on.
