Please forgive the vanity...
Over the years, I have really enjoyed participating in Free Republic discussions on a great variety of topics. Even when there was strong disagreement, Free Republic brought me a sense of connection with others that always seemed to have a purpose.
Unfortunately, I now see clearly that it is over for the US. The constitution has no meaning and we are essentially under mob rule. There is no party to turn to and all the politicians are in collusion to game the system. I think we have reached a stage where this is all going to unravel economically and socially much faster than most people think.
Everything being pushed that most of us are against will come to fruition, with no chance of stopping it. I also realize that there will be no pushback, or moment of "hell no", despite all the brave talk of those behind keyboards. All the big talkers will eventually give up their first and second amendment rights with hardly a whimper.
I am basically going to disconnect, discontinue following politics, and quit voting. I refuse to be Charlie Brown with Lucy and the football any longer. I will now concentrate strictly on my own preparations with my family for when this all goes belly up. Honestly, at this point I would rather it all just go ahead and collapse sooner rather than later.
For my own sanity, I just need to tune it all out from now on.
I understand. However, please keep voting. That does not cost anything. I am a prepper myself.

I’m about ready to ghost my last few decades on this rock. I figure I have another good 40 years. In a few years my business will be at a good point to be sold. I’ll buy my RV and park in the middle of no where and enjoy doing as little as possible to enable the government. The feds are lost. Hopeless in my lifetime. State and locals not doomed just yet. But Obama’s fingers are in everything. He has installed young liberal viruses in every aspect of government and they need to die first. But they’re younger than me. So...Adios

Not too long ago Tea Partiers everywhere were flying the Gadsden flag. There were a lot of remarks by the unknowing
and the progressive types that the flag was offensive. Some even find Old Glory to be offensive. Screw em. I still rotate my Gadsden with my Culpepper flag.
For what it's worth, this site certainly isn't what it used to be..........
Take some time off, stop watching the news and listening to talk radio and chill out for a long while. Eventually you'll return to normal and decide to join us again...............

We already have term limits in place - it’s called voting. Don’t like the pol? Vote against them. Term limits stifle freedom of speech, as do limits on campaign contributions. If you are going to call for term limits, then you need to call for campaign contribution limits as well - I guess that means you are happy D’souza was arrested? Why do you hate freedom of speech so much? Hell, might as well just do away with the 1st Amendment, while we’re at it!
Sadly, brother, you may get the chance sooner than we think. The oligarchy is at the purposed collapse point and has the alternate road already paved. The Vatican is standing with them to get the ugly ball rolling. The Vatican is even planning to welcome the ‘space brothers’ and receive their evangelization. The great lie is already written and is about to be spewed.
