Ah yes, Mrs. Peel. One of my TV crushes as a kid (I watched the Avengers in syndication).

Watched the ol’ boy a lot on black & white TV...mostly to lust after Mrs. Peel.

Supposedly, they planned for Diana Rigg's character to be one with "man appeal", or "M-Appeal" for short. This is alleged to have led to their naming the character Emma Peel, for "M-Appeal". She definitely had it.

Yes, she was appealing. Apeeling?

So was Barbara Eden, Elizabeth Montgomery, and Dawn Wells.

All of whom were approximately the same age as my mom, which I only noticed recently.

I thought he had passed many years ago. I guess he led a quiet life for the last 25 years.

To re shoot this movie today, they could cast American Actor Steve Carell as the male lead, and Welsh Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones as the female.

Macnee did some sci-fi work, too. Original Battlestar Galactica, IIRC.

The Avengers was and remains a great series, a whole lot of fun, a reminder of the "Swinging England" of the '60s, and a perfect combination of intrigue and British humor.

Macnee was always terrific.

Yes, as the character “Iblis”, whose name comes from the Koranic version of the devil.

That’s the reverse of the 1998 movie casting, with Ralph Fiennes as Steed and Uma Thurman as Peel.
