That one is THE definitive version ( and I’ve seen them ALL; including the silent one )and have watched it every Christmas Eve since I was a child.

I agree, I love the black and white version (original). Yes, there is a colorized version where Mr. Macnee narrated a behind the story scene after or before they show the scene (before or after a commercial)

THE greatest version of the story, Sim’s performance is a timeless joy.

Hmmmm, Joanna Lumley.
Still a beauty at nearly 70.

Avenger and Bond girl.

Its the greatest version, don’t get the hype for the Scott version. Alastair Sim IS Scrooge.

Ironic, as he was wearing them, we British stopped wearing them in real life.

Actually that was series 2, the first almost forgotten series had MacNee and Ian Hendry, who played a doctor.

That was one of my favorite shows. Mr. Steed and Mrs. Peel. A class act.

I hope at least one of his Bowlers and his Umbrella are enshrined somewhere.

Thanks for the info !

I thought that I had ALL of the versions on discs, but I guess I don't.

For some reason, colorized movies always look terrible and take away from the original movie. I just can't watch them.

Sorry I love Scott’s version. I think he did the part with just the right balance of rudeness and disregard towards his fellow man. To many over play it that part of Scrooge. Scrooge was a hard and cold businessman not a clown or a hysterical fool.

I am a firm believer that some movies are just mean to be watched in Black and White such as ‘To Kill a Mocking Bird’, ‘Casablanca’ and ‘The Uninvited’ for examples.

Sadly only Lumley left now from that pic, Hunt sadly died of cancer aged 65 a few years ago.

Your right, but I did notice it is not bad because since Christmas is full of colors. It does bring that Christmas feel to it. Your right not all black and white films should be colorized. Except this colorized version and even Miracle on 24th Street does give a Christmas feel to it that either way it does not make a difference.

I agree about yo9ur choices and would thrown in "M", "THE THIRD MAN", the third version of "THE MALTESE FALCON" ( the one with Bogie ), Laura, and several others.

There is a certain quality you get from a B&W movie, that just doesn't come across with one in color.

The book is rather stark and bleak, for much of the time, which fits B&W better. Some scenes in color would work; just not the whole film....at least for me.

It's MIRACLE ON 34th STREET and yes, that could have been made in color, but I still HATE the colorized version.
